Wouldn’t surprise me if Lael returns early fall for another go at the overall record.

Looks like Chris blazed down Gold Dust trail.
Josh might be drying clothes and getting a rest through that mess he just went through.

Impassable mud
Maybe it will freeze up later tonight and riders will make a mad dash.

So I’m guessing it’s still a blizzard at the lodge and that’s why no movement?

From Lael's FB: "A momentary truce. Scenes from Brush Mountain Lodge and Clark, Colorado. Josh Kato, Chris Seistrup, Steve Halligan and Nate Ginzton have all been successful in getting over the pass and descending into Clark and Steamboat Springs. Rain, snow and mud soon after have made the road impassable. It’s 16 miles from the lodge to the peak and there’s word the other side of the pass is worse. This group made plans to set out at 3 a.m. this morning in hopes of better conditions, but awoke to snow. Hours later, it’s still snowing. In Clark, Josh Kato told us about looking for shelter near the top of the pass and finding a cave. He quickly kept trudging on when we spotted a cougar inside. This is a Tour Divide for the books."
Thank you

For those following the TD this year, www.dotwatcher.cc is doing a race commentary again - some rider profiles of the top racers are posted up currently - Steve, Janie and Sofi.

Interesting!
Looks like Trackleaders with commentary.

Since i don't recall seeing any notifications for spot rentals, and it is now likely too late to start that process, I am wondering if there is even going to be an 'official' track this year...?
I’ve been thinking the same thing. My buddy is signed up, but hasn’t heard anything at all. Awful quiet this year.

how do you mount the Fenix in your helmet? Is there a mount adaptor or you just improvised?

THanks,

D

I’ve used the TwoFish Lockblock with pretty good success. Some people say it bugs them hitting the top of their head on the inside of the helmet. I’ve never had that problem. Here’s a link and I think amazon sells them as well.

Edited: you might get more replies if you ask your question in the 2019 planning thread. 👍

Try one of these. The best saddle I ever had for the long days. No the best saddle.

Saw this article in the local Moab paper. I didn’t realize it was an “orginized” event, but I guess it was.

Curious. Is the FB group & bikepacking.net/forum the only sources for current TD info now? The old TD site is out of date and no longer maintained, but people keep referencing it: https://www.tourdivide.org

FWIW - Not sure if the fb site you refer to is the same or not, but this was brought up early in last years planning thread.

Well, that's it for my 2018 attempt.  Canada fried my lungs and my oxygen saturation is down to 80 (from a normal of 97 or 98).  No wonder I am sluggish and have no power.  Probably shouldn't have even started with the way the smoke was, but you know...Looking for 2019 redemption!

Well that sucks!!?
Was wondering how bad the smoke was up there. SW Colorado has been terrible as well.
What did you think about the mid-August start?
