Any interest in summing up the top 8 points from the book, Toby?  ;-)

Matt or Scott M will probably chime in here with the definitive answer but I believe that we need to buy a SPOT device [cough], then activate it which requires paying for at least a one year plan [cough cough], then tell Scott what the relevant ID# is from the device so that he can enable the monitoring of it (and hence your location) on the race website.

Cheers,

Good summary of the pros and cons, though I too suspect that it may be "a wash" between the two options.  Join us NoBo'ers!  We're recruiting!

Now might be a good time to start figuring out the NoBo vs. SoBo competition rules.  Suggestions?  Average of all times for each team member that completes the route?  Some penalty (or not) for DQ'ing?

Hey, I'm assuming that we NoBo'ers need to provide our own SPOT systems?  Correct?

Sweeeet mashup!  I love it.   thumbsup

What JS graphing library did you use?  Ready for feature requests?  Wink
-- Total ascent and descent change for the selected section
-- A checkbox under "popular searches" that toggles a northbound selection (but defaults to southbound)
-- Have the map center over a new selection from the left

and a really hard one (I can maybe help with):
-- color code for 3 types of terrain (dirt road, pavement, or trail)

Awesome!

Thanks, Matt!  I assume that if I ride southbound that you'll give me a first-hand tour of the long and windy post-doc "laboratory".   Wink

Wow, that Black Sheep will be the ultimate mud master with that belt drive....

Greetings!

Russ here from Berkeley, CA.  After a 4-year dissertation delay, I'm officially committed (although still undecided about whether I'm going northbound or southbound).  Woohoo!

Not to interrupt an excellent water purification discussion but ... I just talked to Russell Robinson at Actiontec, who makes some great Ti cogs and rings, and found out that he's heading out of town for a month leaving Thursday so if you want to get your orders in for some indestructible drive chain components now is the time.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.
