Congratulations to my friends Paul Bosworth and Jason Thorman for finishing early this morning. It looks like it must have been a rain soaked ride for the last 30 miles.

Just under a 7 day finish for these guys is just as amazing to me as the winner in 4 days. You guys are awesome.

Good luck to the remainder of the pack still pushing hard out there. For all the people watching this from their computers I'm here too say these guys/gals still on the trail are not slackers. They are riding as hard as they can and continuing to endure lack of food, a good nights sleep, and pure fatigue.   Keep rolling hard guys and gals that are still out there "slaying the beast".

Other than a short 10 minute climb up from Bear Creek, Jefe has an all downhill and fast finish coming up. I'm guessing around 8:15 to 8:45. I know Jesse is fast but I  but catching Jefe now will be an all out push.

I got a call from Tim James. He was pretty sick coming across from Silverton and new he couldn't sustain the ride any further. He is safely at a friends place near Creede and we hope to get him a ride soon. Unfortunately he said he has to scratch this year.

Does anyone know if Apple The Trail Angle  definately moved his camp down to Cochetopa Park? If so is it near the Cochetopa Waypoint (start of wilderness detour) .
I have visions of my friend Paul Bosworth consuming some great soup and orange soda at Apple's camp right now.

click refresh, then the split you want. that's working for me
HaHa! Thanks!  Glad I'm not racing since I didn't even notice the refresh button.  I'd be in Cortez instead of somewhere between Durango an Silverton.

Is the trackleaders "Leaderboard" working? I don't see any splits posted yet  icon_scratch.

Looks like the first ITT rider Wayne Keith is rolling Northbound pretty good.

Would love to see the South bound guys start on Sunday morning from Watertown. Anyone know if they are definitely starting at 4 am?

This race was an absolute beast!!!  Compared to the CTR this course (in my opinion only) is just as hard. The CTR has elevation, lightning, and lots of hike-a-bike but this has some extremely rugged mountain crossings with hike a bike like I've never experienced anywhere.  This was a dry race for the most part (from what I'm being told) but I had wet feet every day of riding from river crossings and many, many, many mud bogs to trudge through.

Alan has put together one hell of a good course with amazing scenery and finding yourself in the most remote spots in the UK (noted from hikers/climbers along the route).  If you need a challenge and love amazing scenery, remote riding locations, and a damn hard challenge then you want to put this race on your calendar.

I hope our 2 injured riders heal quickly. Congrats to each of you that finished ahead of me (which was every finisher since I finished dead last) I'm in true awe of the speed you maintained.  You guys all inspire me too train that much harder for the next challenge!
Thanks to the fine people (riders and non-riders) that showed up at the finish when I came through - you all made my finish something I'll never forget!   thumbsup

Since the CTR ends at Waterton Canyon Trailhead this year has anyone noticed that the canyon is closed from 1/2 hour after sunset to 1/2 hour before sunrise? The gates don't close but brings an interesting twist into the race.

Trying to figure out a) whether to bring my bike or rent; and b) if I bring, how I'm getting from and to the Glasgow airport. Any US riders (or other flyers) coming in on May 23? I know it's a bit early but since I wasn't sure of the logistics I didn't want to rush. Also... is it possible to ride out of the airport...? Anyone up for a "prologue?"

I will be arriving in Glasgow (via British Airways) on the 23rd (via Denver >Heathrow>Glasgow).  I booked a night at the Holiday Inn Express across the street from the airport (2 minute walk apparently).  I got my room for free using points but the rate is relatively cheap compared to most B and B's I've seen listed throughout the country.  I will be catching a ride to Tyndrum on the 24th with another rider.  My only logistics at this time is trying to find a place in Tyndrum (or Glasgow) to store my bike box and gear for after the ride. Oh - and also finding a way back to Glasgow after I'm done riding.  Send me a PM if you want to try and coordinate logistics (I can give you my phone Number in the US).

Any advice on flying into the, "area" from the States on a reasonable budget? All the flights I'm checking out that go to Glasgow aren't super reasonable. I'm guessing I can fly anywhere into island of Great Britain, and train/ride in from there.

I just booked my flight from Denver to Glasgow (via Heathrow on British Airways). Flights into Heathrow are 60% taxes but not bad for a direct flight from DIA. I decided I better book before any new tax or fuel charges jump the fees up any more. Go to British Airways direct website and you will be able to check fares. Also keep in mind their fare allows your bike checked at no additional fee if it is below 51 pounds.

I've been looking at logistics of making it to Tyndrum (start). It looks like a nice place to stay the night before the race is only a short distance away from the start line - Tyndrum Inn.  Anyone planning on driving up to Tyndrum on Friday from Glasgow and have room for an extra person with a bike box?  Train and bus schedule from Glasgow airport looks a little complicated.  I would pay for the fuel!

I'm out for sure if it's on the 5th. AZT Rendezvous at Mormon Lake that weekend...giving a presentation on biking the AZT and voicing support for some more bike-friendly singletrack wilderness detours. I'll make sure to mention that you guys and gals all went blasting through the area the day before after suffering through one of the more heinous sections of AZT.

FYI - this was posted by KREFS.  Sorry - I forgot to logout of my account before lending him my computer.
