Hey Rick,
I found that on an ADK forum I check in on every once in awhile - I don't know who is setting it up - but I'm going to PM the gent who posted the link. Curious how they route - I've done some color rides - road, mixed terrain, dirt - through there 3-4 times. Very cool place - but they'll have to route around wilderness. That could get interesting.

But for me, I think the Pug offers the best versatility for what I'll be doing. When I wear out the current tires, I will probably spring for some 4.7" BFL's. And I'd already been gathering some soft bags from the classifieds here. Thanks for all the inputs.
I don't think you can run the BFLs in the Pugsley rear... maybe on the front if you have the model that shipped with the Moonlander fork (mine is old, so it has the old offset fork) From here: http://surlybikes.com/info_hole/spew/tire_clearance_and_your_surly_frame

I already found that wilderness camp store. Thanks for that though. Yes, I will be on a bikepacking rig with gear that I keep trying to reduce. Water purification is OK. Backpacking food and no cook will be fine. I'll have to check in with the other 2-3 guys and let them know. Most of us will be running traditional bikepacking kit...
Late summer / early fall is what we are thinking. I may be tempted to get out late winter / early spring before the ground thaws. Will touch base with you if I do that. Will not be the full route, maybe just some exploring. But that is 6+ hour drive from me...
Thanks again!

Wow. Thanks. Already have maps from KWW / IAT, started there after I read your post.
RWGPS links work just fine.
How is resupply? I see on the KWW / IAT maps there are several outfitter / camp stores listed. Will have to do homework on calories and acquisition there of.

Thanks for that... I like option 2... option 1 sounds like a good trip too, and I've heard other ideas revolving around the Huts... which sound fun - but I like getting out there.
Any idea on how to start to map this out...? I need to get a Maine gazetteer, and I'll have a look at the online stuff - sat, google, etc.

If its a Gen 1 I don't think you'll get it in the front fork. If its a Gen 2 the front should work with a Rabbit Hole / Knard. The rear is limited to probably going to a smaller rim size. If its a Gen 3 with the alternator dropouts you have a *little* bit more wiggle room in the back because you can pull the alternators way back to gain some length at the BB. And I do believe that the Rabbit Hole / Knards fit in the Firestarter fork.

which fargo? a friend of mine is thinking about this very same thing... front should be easy, rear is the big question. with the alternator model you have a bit more room to play with. (and, FWIW, i moved to a Krampus for this reason, as well as for wanting a higher BB, and more 'mtb' feel) dyno up front on a rabbit hole. rohloff out back. IMG_4177 by mbeganyi, on Flickr can't really help - my fargo is gone...

Does Dinotte make any AA powered lights anymore? I have one of the XML-AA setups. Has served me well, but it rarely gets used anymore.

bmike-vt I really like your switch and happen to have a friend with a 3D printer, any chance you could share the details?
I have a question regarding cache batteries, I can't find one (in the UK) that allows pass-through charging and doesn't use a button to start charging. I think Limefuels are suitable for this but can't seem to get any of the smaller ones. Looking at between 1500-6000mAh. I've looked at Belkin, Anker, Tylt etc and none allow both. Anyone have one that does this?
I don't have the switch wired up yet. Light went back to the UK for warranty, I have it back, and have been meaning to wire everything up... but its cold and winter here now. I have a few things I want to change. And I want to give it a go before I part with the model file. I have about 15 people asking for them... so I might do a short run locally and send them out for some reasonable $$. I have a LimeFuel BlastI haven't tested it on the dyno yet (aside from plugging it in to see if it will take a charge) - but I can charge the battery and my iPhone inline on the laptop. I don't have to push any buttons, just plug it in. If I unplug it from the laptop and plug it in again (leaving the phone plugged in) - it keeps on going. For on the bike I chose the USBWerk as it has a small cache battery in it... not that I'll charge the phone direct - but I might run the GPS from it. That little battery keeps the current flowing smoothly.

I'm a fan of the exposure stuff. Have a dyno powered Revo on the bars and a Diablo on the helmet.

I wrapped mine in electrical tape. I would cut them off, but its on a Ti saddle... so, that would be ALOT of work.
I've since moved to conventional saddles, not sure why, but they have been working for me.

Fenix stuff has worked really well for me. I've had the one mentioned above, and have one now that works with the supplied rechargeable batteries or wth disposables (the UC40UE). Recharge it at home, carry the disposables (not AA or easy to find in a gas station).
Also, depending on how fast you will cover the ground - there are lights with pretty long run times when setup properly at low lumens. I've been using an Exposure Diablo on my helmet - you can program which power levels you want available and they offer piggy back batteries to extend the range.
A big power bank might also be something to consider - it will be able to top up a phone as well as lights.
