Hi Foster,
Can you tell me what happened to you last year? I live just down the hill from you in Peoria.

I travel internationally for both business and pleasure. I have an insurance called Global Rescue. It is emergency evacuation insurance. If you were to get hurt in the bush in Africa for example, they will not only arrange a flight out of the bush from the nearest airstrip, but they will fly you home to the USA if your health situation requires it. Some of these international coverages are just transportation from know airstrips to the closest medical facility.

They even have, which I do have. An extraction service. If you were to get kidnapped in South America or were to become a hostage of a tyrannical rebel somewhere in the Central African Republic, they will dispatch a team of mercenaries to extract you in a "paramilitary manner".

A bit extreme for a North American bike race, I agree but it just shows the extremes this service will go too. The "Non-Military" component is about 300.00 a year. It is good all over the globe, INCLUDING DRC, and some of those other listed global hotspots. The executive extraction option is about another 300.00.    www.globalrescue.com

I pray I never need it.

I don't have it yet, but I too am going with the SON28. I spoke in detail with Peter White about it. His take is that it can provide you plenty of light at night, charge all your stuff during the day (with voltage adapters he can make / provide). Really simplifies the entire electronic thought process of the TD. His take on resistance is that it would take sophisticated resistance measuring equipment to measure the very low drag of the hub.

He convinced me.

I just started using DZNUTS.  icon_biggrin It is a product created by cyclings own David Zabriski. It has witch hazel and I believe menthol. Seems to calm down and prevent.

Hey there gang,

My name is Steve, I live in Phoenix and am working towards the 2014 GD. I bit early yes, but at 51 (now) need to have everything in my favor as possible to compete and hopefully complete. My goals are a bit different than most, first, I have been cycling for 25 years. I have raced on and off for most of those years.

I have a 14 year old son, his name is Brian, (hence the screen name Briansong) he was born early and has lifelong disabilities. My goals for the TD is to take advantage of an event such as this to raise money. I would hope to raise several hundred thousand dollars on pledges from friends, neighbors, family and more importantly business associates and corporate sponsors I do business with each and every day. In a perfect world, if I were to get pledged, 360.00 per mile total and I were to finish, that is 1 million dollars. Overly optimistic? perhaps but why not aim high.

I plan on splitting the donated dollars equally between the two charities that help people like my son, The United Way and the Special Olympics. I will pay 100 percent of my own expenses and be very public with pledged amounts.

I have read the rules and don't see this as a conflict. If so can somebody please advise.

I will continue to lurk, watch and learn form this very informative forum.

Regards to all,

Steve
