Currrently making his way up Longs as we speak....

How does he do it? Woke up on Guanella yesterday, climbed Evans/Bierstadt, rode into Idaho Springs, had lunch/dinner, rode all night to Longs trailhead, started climbing....damn

Someone said it before : 'intimidating performance'. No doubt!

Awesome display of speed, athleticism and dogged determination.

This has been more than fun to watch - suffice to say, I am in awe. Thank you Justin for a great show, enjoy the final peak and thanks for kindling a new found interest in the 14ers. I've spent more time on 14ers.com in the last month than I ever have!

Finish strong!

From the national weather service:

"Snow is expected above 12,000 feet and Mt Evans picked up 1 to 2 inches this morning."

Hope he stays warm tonight - somehow! Looks really ugly up on Guanella Pass right now.

For besting the Benson FKT, Simoni will need to summit 14 more 14ers in approx. 10 days.

Hell, he just did 5 in one day!  icon_biggrin

Justin, you are an animal!

I am in awe of your progress - from what I can tell you bagged 5 14ers yesterday, crashed at midnight and have been up and rolling since 6!

You are inspiring me to start tackling some 14ers...

Keep up the good show!

I wish I had your singular focus Mark. I don't know how you spend all those hours out there and continue to find the motivation.

Thanks for a great show all year - and I've thoroughly enjoyed some of your call in's. Especially one you made during the AZT - you were clearly in the moment (as you always seem to be!) and there was some line like: 'it's not about how hard the trail hits you, but how hard you hit BACK!' I loved that.

Now, would you please just sit on the couch, or watch TV, or something  icon_biggrin

Significantly higher percentage of finishers in 2013 - the first year the route was flipped.

Maybe next time I should start in Durango  Wink

CTR14: ITT Karlos Bernart called in from Silverton to recap his last two days!

http://mtbcast.com/site2/category/ctr14/

So I'm confused - Karlos seems to think he was racing in the CTR, yet he was taking handouts and riding with friends from the start. And only now at this point - after his detour - does he seem to think he wouldn't be considered a finisher...but would still be considered a CT finisher?

Are people thinking they can just use the CTR tracker as a way to track their thru ride (another ITT'r took US-285 instead of Tarryall and was for a fact 'not racing' - according to his bike shop employer)? Is that acceptable? Is it just me that has questioned Karlos' 'ITT' from the start?

I don't want to take away from his effort - I am just questioning his entry into this race.

4days 10hrs.Heck ya!Nice work Neil!

Damn Neil - it takes me that long to get to HWY 50  thumbsup

You see these pics of him at the end and think, man it looks so easy...and to most people it probably does. But we know how effin hard this thing is, hell I've tried twice and lost the battle. Guess I'll have to try again...thanks to this inspiring finish!

Fame and love. Two out of three ain't bad!

Ha! Indeed.

Nice work Neil...impressive show to say the least.

Next potential finisher is a solid 80 miles away in Silverton...that is some lead he built up!

Walking in 40 miles on a knee with a pain 10 out of 10...damn, that's going to hurt. Tough dude.

Are CM and TL really making that wrong turn on Jarosa Mesa?

Is Karlos trying to find lower ground out of the weather?

Bummed out to report that I'm gonna have to drop out here in Buena Vista. My right Achilles' tendon flared this morning and nothing I've tried seems to get it loosen up. I fought through this last year and was pretty much ruined for two months afterwards so I guess I just don't have the courage to face the San Juans in this condition again.

I'll let this sink in and update more later. For now I'm excited to watch the race unfold between these awesome guys I've been riding with basically since the Stagestop. Shout out to Aaron, Garret, Brian, Josiah, and several others. Also to my friend Rick Miller. Hope you are all able to persevere better than I could.

Scott Shirey

Bummer, sorry to hear that Scott. Good run though!!

Devin at Boneshaker wants any racer that needs emergency mechanic help to feel free to call him:
hey if you have a way to communicate to racers rolling through bv that if they have an emergency need they can call me at 970-403-6563.  i live only a couple of blocks from the shop.

Nice to hear that. Devin helped me out in a big way last year...so he means it when he says he'll help in a pinch.
