Hey guys, can we move all Race talk over to the new thread created by Scott? Make it easier instead of looking through both at the moment...

CTR 2014 - Race Discussion

Ah, good point - forgot about that!

Poor Katie Anderson just had some serious route findings issues. She just did a lot more climbing than she needed to do. Hats off to her for getting back on track though...

Neil is going wicked fast... too bad we don't have a Jefe/Jesse benchmark for this particular route southbound.  I'd be awfully curious...

I was just about to say the same thing. Loved seeing the JayP 'ghost' on the TD tracker. We do need the Jefe 'ghost' for the CTR.

We've got a 9 month old at home so he's used to getting crappy sleep... could be good, could be bad!

You mean bad in that he might realize he could get hours and hours of uninterrupted sleep on the trail  icon_biggrin

Robert Orr looks to have discovered his mistake...and now has a wicked backtrack, bummer.

I got a brief text from him while he waited for food at Stagestop, saying he was very wet and very cold and he had to hide from some intense lightning

Isn't that par for the course these days! I would be more surprised if he said he was warm and dry  Wink

I've noticed some other strange SPOT points from some other riders also...

And yeah, Georgia Pass by 8pm is remarkable.

Although he's taken two wrong turns leaving the Stagestop...odd

Oh man, it sure looks like he did...hope he figures that out soon!

A 57 and 59 year old in the top 13...good show.

Did Chris ride in the inaugural CTR? I know he has some impressive showings in the big races...can he pull in Neil who seems to be blazing away?

Party at the Stagestop! I'm sure Pat is hooking everyone up

Cool - thanks for posting some pics. That is one slick looking SS!

12 hours to get to Kenosha...wow.

Appears as if GB took a wrong turn at the Wellington Lake campground office onto 543 and is now climbing back up the road. Ouch! That is a nasty climb

Once again Karlos is stretching the ITT principles. Seems more and more like a tour - 'beer handouts', really. And he's clearly with someone. And he's digging fire pits, so much for low impact camping...

Sorry, but I tried my damnedest to stick to the ITT rules (do. it. yourself.) and this guy is out there taking beer handouts and camping with a friend (which honestly sounds nice, but that is not an ITT.)

Man - Neil is almost going to make lunch, not dinner, at the Stagestop! I think I was just getting to the detour by this time...and he's already to HWY 77. Awesome.
I got in a ride down in Buff creek this morning, but just missed the racers come through. Tons of trees removed in Segment 3 - totally different feel to the trail through there now. Wish I'd had more time to get some pics of the racers. Looking forward to seeing some from the start.

Somebody better tell Barry Ritchey the race has already started. He is currently sleeping up on the Gaspesie Peninsula  icon_biggrin

And JS appears to be bushwacking on Green Mtn!

Anyone know what happened to Matt Hubach?

Dave Nice is all over the place!

Kyle Quinn ITT looks to be taking the highway instead of Tarryall. So there is our 4th ITT'r scratched so far.

After a couple good days Matt Hubach seems to be staying at the Copper Conoco - is he bivying behind the gas station or something? Hope all is ok, Tenmile is hard, but I would have expected him to cover more ground today...

And Karlos is plugging along on the Sargents crest.

Great setups. Good luck to everyone!

The 'supermoon' was spectacularly awesome here in Bailey last night. Here's to clear skies for next week!

I'll be watching and I'm now bummed my effort didn't work out this year - but that's all right. Maybe I'll come out to Segment 2 or 3 tomorrow and spectate.

Good looking rig Barry, get er done!

I am imagining a thru hiker coming along somewhere and finding a pair of fuzzy dice on the trail and scratching his head  icon_biggrin

Thanks for sharing

CTR14: ITT Karlos Bernart called in on his way to BV this morning. He’ll have to explain the scream!

http://mtbcast.com/site2/category/ctr14/

Sorry, but is this guy racing a true ITT or touring? He does distinctly say 'we' several times...

And indeed - he definitely needs to explain that scream, he hardly even misses a beat!

Hubach has put in a good showing for day 1...looks like he's pulled into the Spruce Grove campground, about 82 miles in.

I think this is his 3rd attempt, pulling for him to finish this one.

Edit: I suppose he could just be filling up on water too.

Epic hailstorm just passed through, and fast! Hubach is happy to not be in the burn area right now...although now he looks to be on 126 instead of the CT.
