Nice. Scarpa T4s? Or excursions? I'm on some madschuss epochs and the T4s with 3 pin and cables. Love that setup. Been chasing the wife and kids around the lift served area all winter on it.

Harness and pocket. From more than a couple of years ago, back when Eric was Epic.

Nice. I've thought of similar after reading Lucs accounts. Would work better for hike / ski - maybe on my Pugsley where I'm more upright.

I wonder it a T fitting sliced through the T part would be a bit better on the bag. More surface area and with some rubber padding it would cut down on abrasion.

Cool idea!

For a 400k and 600k brevet I carried 2 tubes in a small bag with a Velcro strap wrapped around the front hub.

debated this same thing, back when i bought my gen 2 fargo.
i would have loved the alternators, as i miss SS / FG or IGH options.
but i'm running geared. lots of gravel roads, dirt roads, jeep trail here in VT.
and plenty of single track.
its my most used machine - i have a pugsley and a custom independent fabrications road.

woodchippers for me, were key, because i was looking at a touring / dirt road / tour divide bike. couldn't get my head around doing the tour divide on flat bars. nor doing lots of dirt road / jeep trail touring on flat bars.

takes some time to get them dialed in. mine are a bit low for single track - but workable. they are higher than my road machine, and higher than what i had on a cross bike. my hands, in the hooks, are a bit lower then where they would be on my old soma ss mtb (sold to get the fargo).

if i was riding single track day in and day out - i'd raise the bars. and i'd consider moving to an el-mar myself.
recently I've thought of selling the pugs and the fargo for a mukluk with 2 wheel sets - fat and 29r.

but, i love the fargo, gets used most days in the summer, and even in the winter with studs. i tried flat bars on it - just didn't feel right (only had a few choices of stems in the parts bin, and in the used lot at the local shop).

those sea to summit packs look great.

for short trips i've been using my wingnut hyper nearly empty, using it to camel up as needed. typically the only thing in it (for summer trips) is my phone, wallet, spot, etc. i toss layers in it if needed. its nice to have capacity in town for food / water heading to camp.

this is the old titec h-bar. like it well enough, but would love a loop bar. i've used this on and off on my pugsley. works well with a shorter stem than normal, but i like the salsa bar (forget which one came stock on my pugs) for general mtb and snow use.

Zipshot? I have the shorter version. Like it well enough for my G12.

you may need to reverse a segment - its trying to connect the beginning and end of a segment - but sometimes the end of one is on the opposite end of the beginning of the next... do a search on the TF help forums, where I found out how to do this. from memory something about right clicking...
372  Forums / Question and Answer / Re: Waypoints, trackpoints and tracks on: December 19, 2013, 10:45:00 AM
And then copy your finished file over to google earth and fly your route

Thus allowing you to skip the ride part altogether .....

I've found that if I map ahead of time I spend a whole lot less time staring at the GPS out in the real world. Having a sense of direction, terrain, etc. Preloaded into my head makes my bikepacking rides more enjoyable.

A friend's mod using different FortyBelow.com booties for some -40f ss / platform Iditarod Trail action...

that is a clever hack. and a nice reuse of an endo.

...and then combine all the pieces into 1...

yes, you can import and snip to your heart's content...
376  Forums / Question and Answer / Re: Waypoints, trackpoints and tracks on: December 10, 2013, 10:16:37 AM
for mixed routes, with trail, road, etc... i usually combine things.
gpx from mapmyride, brought into TF
trails can be traced or drawn - depending on source - or often found online with some searching. i was able to pull up a bunch of stuff that was brought in as tracks in the ADK mountains.
and yes, some drawing when required.
377  Forums / Winter bikepacking / Re: XC *SKI* camping and epics, por favor? on: December 04, 2013, 08:14:14 AM
personally, i need to up my winter camping gear and my ski skills before i take on anything like you mention... i have eyed some lean to-s with some nice terrain nearby - with the right weather current gear could work just fine.

i immediately thought of dave b. when i started reading your post. he carried all his gear on the canadian ski marathon...

I've actually got a lefty and read on another post that they aren't even made yet or that they are inefficient...?

afaik, no lefty versions of dyno hubs.
inefficient? says who?

did your tents get covered in snow? If yes how did the contrail do? Nice pics btw.

yes, overnight. seemed to work just fine. it was gone in the morning. not sure how much snow we had accumulate... certainly didn't get anything to stick.
