So, I'm packed up for my first overnighter. My total bike with gear, food , water weighs in at 60lbs. That seems like a lot to me, is it average?

As far as support or non-support goes, I would say that it could go either way. There are so many other factors involved. That said, when I get the time to attempt it, I plan on fully self supported, because I can.

I'll be doing most of my trips in the Appalachian mountains. It's humid here, lots of moisture, I'm trying to figure out if down is a viable option, or if I should go with synthetic sleeping bag/ insulating layer.

I just got mine in the mail today. I put it on my custom built Siren 55 SL. It fits really well, looks like it will also fit on my road bike, excellent quality. I'll post reports on my blog soon.
