Well, I was offered a generous price on a replacement m390 and the frame seems a good design for bike packing purposes.I've looked around on the internet for reviews and it seems there a lot of unhappy Lynskey owners out there that have broken frames.
I'm still in decision mode but definitely don't want to ride anything questionable for being out in the middle of nowhere.
As of now, good customer service but not confident of the product.

Giving a shout out out to Chris Neumann . I don't know him but he needs to finish this race after so many attempts! May he have the best of luck as well as the rest of the racers. Keep it going strong past BV and remember that the most beautiful parts of the trail are still ahead.

I saw a team format for the Dixie and instantly liked it. Clock stops when all team members cross the finish line. I think anyone could ITT any current race under this category and have great time doing it. There are definitely some down sides to team format, like any of the.million things that can go wrong in an effort.

Greenwood village to waterton canyon isn't that far. Maybe a three hour ride at a super leisurely pace. Take highline canal to south platte to chatfield, all on bike path. Good luck.

Despite my feelings last year about not needing to ride the CT again, Bart is right: the need creeps in slowly until it once again becomes an obsession. Good luck to all out there and may you be safe and (possibly) dry. May be out there in 2013...

I think the frame is 2007 or so, 31.6 seatpost. I've done some reading and it seems Lynskey has made changes to a 27.2 post. Just sent in photos, but I am not the original owner, so no warranty.
Depending on cost, I will have the crack repaired. However, I'm a little worried about overall integrity. How has your frame faired after repairs?

There are definitely enough trees to hang a hammock, except for just past spring creek pass all the way to silverton, about 40 miles.

I will be leaving Boulder, CO at around 5 pm on Thursday 6/28 for an overnighter, returning Friday 6/29. Planned route is US 36--> Lefthand canyon--> Jamestown (resisting temptation to get beer here)--> camping at Ceran St. Vrain. Friday: Ceran St. Vrain--> Riverside--> Sourdough Trail--> Caribou--> Nederland--> [High school trails]--> Magnolia--> Boulder. Not sure total distance, but I'm guessing 60 miles or so, depending on options.
Planning a similar, bigger ride on July 4-5, trying to get closer to 100 miles and utilizing more dirt routes.
Anyone interested, send me a PM.
Gabe
BTW I tend to average 5 mph over the course of the day, probably more like 7 mph on these rides.

I have been using mine for water.definitely a little worried about breakage, but so far 80 miles dirt riding, one overnighter, and 15 miles singletrack and nothing broken yet. Using a Fargo fork, no hose clamps.

The geronimo pain cream from fall river botanicals is what I use. That, combined with a totally dry sleeping layer, has kept me happy. Switching to a brooks saddle has also done wonders. Finally, when I dropped the riding shorts and went straight to spandex, many of the heat issues discussed above were fixed. For me, cleaning with alcohol didn't work nearly as well as soap (Dr. Bronners) and using 2 pairs of riding shorts has also worked, especially if the chamois were 2 different shapes. Good luck... And 2nd on the comment about prevention!

I've got a rainbow and I like it very much. I'm 5'9" and there is plenty of room for gear at my feet. It fits two people snugly. It is definitely the lightest tent I own. Haven't used it for bikepacking yet but I suspect it will work out well. I'm thinking about strapping it to my bars but am concerned about rubbing through the tent bag at contact points near the stem. Plenty of winter left to figure that one out.
My only concern with the rainbow will have to be tested in heavy rain. There is a mesh gap near the floor that might let pesky bouncing rain drops in.
