A friend of me has good experience with the B&M E-Werk and a Gamin Oregon 300. A good solution includes a buffer to  avoid 'loss of external power' messages on Garmin devices.

jimfab, I'm aware of the ACA GD shuttle options (http://www.adventurecycling.org/routes/GD_shuttle.pdf). Unfortunately Gila Wilderness Shuttle didn't provide shuttle services to Phoenix, AZ.

Vacation is confirmed, flights are booked, I'll find a way to get to Phoenix. My flight leaves Phoenix at July 30, 2011.
