I've done it many times, no problems. I would recommend de-burr the holes.   Burrs cause more stress to be concentrated at the edges of holes, decreasing resistance to fracture and shortening fatigue life.

Sounds like she's got a good attitude going and is settling in to wait it out a bit.  This should mean a long rest and a good chance to dry out equipment.  That yurt looks awesome from the satellite photos.

Pat was amazing. When we pulled up at 11:00 Friday night he was out on the porch with several folks waiting for us. As we arrived he called us by name, told us to get inside and get to work on the hot food he had prepared. He also sold us a bunch of stuff from his store, and then let us bivvy in the yard. He was super excited about the race. He had his laptop out and was following Trackleaders constantly. He is a part of CTR lore now!

Give earplugs a try.  I have a friend that lives 30' front a railroad track and sleeps through the train passings like a baby, the same friend while staying at a motel on a fishing trip can't sleep because the TV in the room next to us was to loud, I could hardly hear it. Sounds that you're not used to can/will keep you awake.

same here...seriously how in the hell do these two guys do this?  at that pace? neck and neck within a few miles of one another.  id love an insiders perspective of what it takes to do what they are doing....unreal efforts!!!!

You could consider Engineer Pass (the nothern part of the alpine loop) in lieu of Cinnamon Pass, to mix things up a bit.
