Is the 2.1 measured at the sidewall or knobby?

I wrapped my fork with black duct tape first. It gives a helluva grip for the hose clamp.

1. wrap fork with duct tape (for grip)
2. attach cage to fork with two hose clamps

You are not alone. I know I cannot compete and really don't care for a June start (no race for me probably), but one of these years I will do this trip as a tour only from Canadian border. It is fun to think about strategy though, esp charging options (dynamo versus no dynamo).

Or stick with the Etrex 20 and take backup cards with the same track.
