I do not get the impression that many riders follow this forum.

Who is Toby?

Oops why is Toby interested?

I think the guy found him at the top of my drive, and he went back up the same drive.

The only person who would know for certain would be the guy who found him, I know he is a commercial pilot, tall and occasionally flies into Calgary.

He did go for a spin around town first thing to make sure he and the bike were OK, my puppy went with him.

Glad to see Jesse moving again.

Looks like something happened about a mile or so into Gold Dust trail. Spent about a 1/2 hour in basically one area. According to his Spot coverage it sure looks like he rode it all into Como.

Woody

We think he had a puncture at that point, not an obvious spot to have weather issues. He had a inner tube in his back wheel. And then probably just outside Como was hit by lightning. His rear tube was completely flat and the guy who found him said he was cycling on it.

They were up at 5.00. Left at 6.00.

Jesse seems OK physically, just shocked in more senses of the word than one. You have all these what might have been moments going through your head. I am no medical expert but I think he will be fine.

He did leave his Credit Card behind, I had thought of getting my bike out and chasing them down but that might have been too embarrassing.....

His aim is to get to Salida later this morning and have his bike checked out, he was running tubeless and needs a few spare inners.

I am pretty sure it was a near lightning hit.

Jesse and Kerrin are here. Kerrin arrived first, and I expected Jesse about 30 minutes later.

We had a major electrical storm, thunder, lightening, a little bit of moisture, Kerrin just missed it. What we think happened is that half way down Boreas Jesse had a flat, he was running tubeless and put a tube in. Coming into Como it is pretty open, he was found on the town limits dazed and confused cycling with a totally flat tire saying he was looking for a guy called Como. We sat him down, got some water and coke into him, we thought he had major concussion. He had obviously come down on his right side, knee and wrist hurt but no cuts or major abrasions.

Now he is now lucid, but it took him sometime to come around, he was insisting he was third in the race, all he rembers was the thunder and lightening.

We think he was near a lightening hit and was blown off his bike.

One thing Mike did say about GPS is that it does not work very well when you are going down singletrack in the dark!

He also mentioned that he finds a few hours sleep is much more effective, seems he is relying on 5 max, than doing all nighters.

Mike just left, thinking Del Norte may not be achievable. Needs a new chain so will pick one up in Salida. He did say he would like Craig to catch up a bit and push him!

The really old TdF had some interesting activities, hopefully we will never see some of those on the TourDivide.

Mike did not know how far behind Craig was, he could have found out in Breck as he had wi fi access.

5 years ago it was very common for cyclists to ask to borrow my laptop, now it never happens. There may be some out there without them but I am sure they are a small minority.

I keep a random eye on who is due in. As I live on the premises I do not stay late or open early etc. I have had heard of some bike shops being very accommodating. Steamboat and Salida get a regular mention.

The racers generally do not book, certainly those at the front, they want to get as far as they can. The Tourists and those at the back are more likely to do so as they will stop mid afternoon and not be worried about a few extra hours cycling opportunity.

I do not think I have ever had a Rider book for the Restaurant, I get calls asking when we are open, but I doubt many are from Cyclists.

He has a phone but as it has a UK Sim it is only used for dire emergencies or when he has access to wi fi.

Mike mentioned how strong a rider Craig was and how difficult it was to make the break. Also that he nearly quit 3 days in, having breathing issues, rested up overnight and it went away.

Tomorrow he is looking to make Del Norte. Craig seems to have pulled off route?

Stamstad and Curiak phoned from pay phones along the trail to inquire about the status of a motel room or services ahead on the route. This activity is not prohibited provided it's done ON the race clock. The intro of smart phones has enabled this to be done by email, but it still takes time out of racing to do. I agree it almost seems unfair in comparison to someone who is not carrying a phone at all, but these are choices riders must make. Payphones don't exist anymore, so perpetuating the GDR mobile phone ban wouldn't exactly be fair either. Hall is carrying that extra weight, and it's a distraction too. Please discuss. The important thing is that a place like Como Depot commits to treating everyone equally, not simply Hall because he's the race leader.

I tend to have more sympathy with the people at the back. I do not think he has a phone. He said he could not find a pay phone?

Are you fixing him up a hot meal and a bath?  Seems like emailing a restaurant that you'll "be there" at a certain time is over the line.  Whatever.  I don't even care anymore.

The time is my supposition, not his. I am also a Bed and Breakfast.

I have many riders calling in advance, why would that be an issue?

Had an e mail from Mike, he should be in Como about 10pm.

Joshua, breakfast consumed, ready and raring.

SPOT issues seems to be battery related, they do not use rechargables and people do turn them off to save juice and forget to turn them on again or notice the batteries are dying.

Joshua Weinfeld just left heading north.

I do have a sponsor to provide a beer for the racers.

Look up Tommy Goodwin.

A real iron man.

Cjell went through Como about lunchtime, but did not stop.

2 years in a row, I am starting to think it is something personal!
