Glad that Tony and I were able to crank it up through New Mexico and still hit that 30 day mark. I finally realize why you get so upset with some of the riders that don't police themselves. I'm not sure where I stand on the whole "orange" coating topic....but I do know that Trackleaders didn't code everyone correctly and wish that it worked a little better. Anyway...I had a great adventure! Weather was chaotic at best, but at least it gave me more confidence for future wet weather races. Can't wait for the AZTR next year!

Hey so I'm a little confused. I have one last question before I head up to Banff tomorrow. I was just rereading the rules one last time so they are fresh in my mind. The TD website states that we must take the Gold Dust Alternate route just south of Breck at Boreas Pass... but it is definitely not reflected on the ACA maps and it also doesn't look like it is part of the GPX file. Can anyone tell me if this is actually a mandatory alternate and I'm assuming you just have to navigate by cues soley in that section?

Another quick question...Anyone find any info on a bike shop in Rawlins? I tried calling a place call Murray's and I get a disconnected tone. I also googled it and can't come up with anything else.

Might have already been asked/answered, but just wanted to confirm. Are the two orange tracks in NM on Trackleaders Fire alternates? Are they mandatory, recommended or only there if there becomes an issue? What are the two different alternates like as far as water, gradient and such? One more question. I had heard at some point that any detours/alternate routes are only advised, but not mandatory. Is this correct?

It is Memorial Day today and it is a special day for me. I'm dedicating my ride to my two fallen brothers last year. They were my friends and coworkers in the military down here in Yuma, Arizona. I'm riding to raise money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF). The SOWF puts kids through college who have lost a parent serving under the Special Operations Command. I wouldn't be too worried about fitness at this point, you are either ready or not by now. No need to try cramming in something that may make the actual issue worse. You will not get out of shape before race day...guaranteed. I'm having a ton of knee pain too. My bike fit person pushed my saddle further back and I went to 170mm cranks instead of 175's. So far it has helped a bit, but they keep getting sore. I'm trying to experiment with those small bands that go underneath the knee cap and are meant for patella femoral syndrome or "jumper's knee". They aren't too bad for just wearing around, but can be kind of annoying while pedaling. Anyway, I'm just gonna go with it and hope that the issues resolve themselves. I'm really going to listen to my body and not go out too hard too fast on this one
