81  Forums / Question and Answer / Which drop-bar shifters (105 vs Force) on: July 11, 2015, 12:00:38 PM
Which drop-bar shifters (and group) do you recommend for long distance bikepacking?  Shimano 105 ST-5700 vs SRAM Force.  I have the opportunity to get either group for about the same price.  So far, I have been all Shimano on my road and CX bikes, but have heard that some folks love the SRAM doubletap shifters.  In either case I would be using them with a compatible MTB rear derailleur (XT or X-9).

Here is a Word doc with each athlete's data from trackleaders.com that you can download.  It is interesting to see what frame everyone is riding (Fargo and El Mariachi it seems...).

Erik,

The frame and seat bags are Porcelain Rocket bags. The seat bag is a Mr. Fusion (http://www.porcelainrocket.com/product/mr-fusion-seat-system/). The front bag looks homemade. I have some porcelain rocket bags in the household, very high quality gear.

Thanks! Great looking bags. What is your experience using these?
