Took KR about 2 hours flat to reach PCL. Flyin'!! Scott thinks Kurt listed his start time as 9:50a as an estimate on when he'd reach PCL, looks like he arrived a few minutes early!!

And the KR dot is off!! Looks like a 7:45a start...

Dots all over the state today!!

The fast spring ITTs continue!! Kurt sets off tomorrow at 7:30a.  thumbsup

You'll notice he'll get going from border monument 103. Why? Beginning in the fall, the 300 will be starting at the border with the 800 at 7a. This puts the 300 back at 300 miles, not 279 or whatever. Everyone gets to ride 6 miles of AZT before reaching Parker Canyon Lake. Timesplits will now match up between the 300 & 800. Riders can actually meet everyone. Riders getting dropped off in the morning won't get dusted out after the ride begins as the drive in uses a different road than the route. Plus, it's a cool place to start!!

Any other spring ITTs are welcome to start at either location due to short notice.

Track will be updated shortly and a few waypoints will be added to both.

I see that!! Guess we'll find out shortly.

EDIT: He's going down!!

We have our first rider at the South Rim!! My guess is he waits until tomorrow to drop in based on how he's been riding so far, i.e Early-ish nights.

Looks like Jeremy may have been able to mostly ride the trail around Mormon Lake, he seemed to get through there ok, not many slow pings. Katie did report some post-holing through snow near General Springs Cabin on the Fred Haught portion of AZT, she's still truckin' along. Go, go, 800 riders, GO!!

It's better than Alexis Re-loaded, isn't it??

Finish times have been updated for the 300 for everyone who has toed the line so far. You'll notice Timon's record time has an * on it. We have been in contact this morning and he is aware that he missed ~2 miles of trail near the Boulders/Ripsey transition, aka Cougar Hill. It falls under the 0 - 1% category for missed route, so the record stands with the noted omission.

Re: the track, one other item I'll add is, the reason there are two versions (full file & 10k version) is some people like the full resolution of the full track, but then they split it into a few separate 10k tracks with that resolution. I tend to just use the 10k version as it has enough resolution for me. I've been caught a few times with a truncated track, oops.

For all you time split data geeks (like me) I created a Google doc from the Trackleaders leaderboard grid going back to 2010. Makes it a little easier to find what you're looking for. Link to the file is here: Google Doc AZTR Time Splits
It's also linked on the AZTR website on the Results page, down with the Records.

💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 He?s ripping out there. Hope that time he lost early in the ride won?t cost him a sub 2 day ride. I think it?ll be close. Get it Jefe!

Ain't that the truth, I would love to see him snag a sub 2!!!

Received a text from Timon, 6:30a start, 9:22p finish. So, 38h 52m (1d 14h 52m)

Looks like two long standing 300 records will fall tonight. The SS record is Neil Stitzer's 2d 6h 23m (2016) Jefe hits the 2d mark at 2a tonight. Assuming Timon hits Picketpost before 10:20p, he'll break the 40 hour mark....astounding!!!

Congrats to Katie Anderson for completing the 300 portion of the 800!! Keep rolling!!

+5h at the Gila River checkpoint and that's probably closer to 6. Looks like a Sub-40h finish??
97  Forums / Ultra Racing / Re: 2021 AZTR on: March 31, 2021, 08:28:04 AM
Timon was still holding about a 3 hour advantage at Summerhaven. I don't think the Oracle time is accurate based on his erratic SPOT pings, I'd guess he's still about +3h as he closes in on Freeman Rd. Meanwhile, Jefe is having a great run himself as he nears Oracle.

Congrats to Pete B. for notching a Sub-3 day finish on the 300.

Katie & the Muffin Man (Mike) are plugging away through the Gila Canyons hopefully before the heat kicks in today.

Julie's off to a great start as well. Ian's fun really gets going today as he'll reach the Highline trail above Pine. Will it be dry enough to ride the good sections??
98  Forums / Ultra Racing / Re: 2021 AZTR on: March 30, 2021, 09:48:07 PM
He shaved another hour off the record pace between Colossal Cave & Tucson!! Currently at +3h 7m. Summerhaven will be a key checkpoint IMO. Kurt's time there was: 22h 28m.
99  Forums / Ultra Racing / Re: 2021 AZTR on: March 30, 2021, 03:08:07 PM
Timon is really cooking out there!! He's now about 4 miles behind Jefe. This next time split will be interesting.

At Kentucky Camp (keep in mind the route is a few miles shorter than in 2014 during Kurt's record run, with most of those miles between Parker Canyon Lake & Kentucky Camp)
Kurt's split: 6h 52m
Timon's split: 5h 34m
Harry Hood's split: 6h 11m

From Kentucky Camp to Colossal Cave:
Kurt: 5h 9m
Harry: 4h 59m
Timon: ?? UPDATE: 4h 20m!!!

Hopefully his tracker pings a spot near Colossal Cave, but who knows.

Yeah, the first one looks like he was enjoying the new Temporal Gulch singletrack a bit too much!! Haha. The second one in Gardner Canyon may have been an errant point, but either way he was back on route fairly quick. Timon seems to have some sporadic SPOT pings, but he is flying!! Could catch Jefe, he's only 10 miles or so back. Julie's off to a nice start too.

The three 800 riders are chugging along at a steady pace. Stay hydrated out there!! First blast of heat is upon us here in the desert southwest, low to mid-90's here in Phoenix through Saturday. Mid-upper 80's along the Gila River.
