How good is this year’s TD? It is CRAZY GOOD!
It’s fun to watch the blue, pink and yellow dots move along the route. But, I am kind of a numbers guy so I enjoy looking a little deeper at the splits and final times then comparing them to past performances.
Women first: The 3rd & 4th fastest women’s time was recorded this year.
1st. Eszter Horanyi: 19 days – 3 hours – 35 minutes 2012 2nd Katherine Wallace: 21 days – 14 hours – 35 minutes 2012 3rd Sara Dallman: 22 days – 19 hours – 5 minutes 2013 4th Kristen Arnold: 23 days – 12 hours – 2 minutes 2013
Men next: In spite of fire reroutes in New Mexico and flooding in Canada many new marks were set this year. First time ever less than 24 hours from Banff to the US boarder to get started. That incredible pace resulted in the fastest splits ever at following locations:
US Boarder & Whitefish: Craig Stappler(CS) & Mike Hall(MH) under Jay Petervary (JP) record time. Lincoln: CS, MH, Jesse Carlsson(JC), Liam Crowley(LC), James Olsen(JO), Marco Nicoletti(MN), Alex Harris(AH) under JP record time. Butte: CS, MH, JC, LC, AH, JO, MN, Markley Anderson and Leo Pershall under JP record time. Lima: CS, MH under JP record time…JC was only behind JP time by 33 minutes 930 miles in. Mack Inn & Flagg Ranch: CS, MH, JC under JP record time. Boulder, Atlantic City, Rawlins & Steamboat Springs: MH, CS & JC under JP record time. Silverthorne & Salida: MH & JC under JP record time. Del Norte – Abiquiu: MH under JP record time.
Billy Rice completed the first ever YO-YO in just under 44 days. Antelope Wells to Banff then right back to Antelope Wells, 5700 plus miles.
Cjell Money turned in one of the top 5 boarder to boarder times of 15 days – 11 hours – 53 minutes.
In 2008 there were 16 TD riders start and in 2013 there was 143 TD riders start the race. Once the smoke clears and the water resides it will be interesting see the official results for this year’s incredible TD.

We had the second yo-yo stay at the lodge last night. Cjell scored a motorhome in Whitefish and is working his way back home. OK, so really not a yo-yo. Great fun to visit for a few hours about the TD and skiing.

Not sure how else to get the word out there, but if anyone hears of someone finding one, it's his and it has sentimental value
Joe Polk - can you put that on MTNBR?
The jacket may just show up...Hammish McKee was riding over Fleecier Mountain and found a TD riders rain coat. He picked it up and brought it to our lodge that evening where he left it for any rider that might need one. As luck would have it Dale Earixson lost this jacket, spent the night in Wise River, then stopped at our lodge for breakfast shortly after Hammish had hit the trail. He mentioned that he was hoping the rain would let up as he had lost his rain jacket yesterday...we told him we had it.

This weekend was a busy one at Montana High Country Lodge. The last north bound TD rider, Dylan Stewart and the last south bound TD rider, Ralph Yukon Krauss stopped in. Also we hosted the breakfast stop again for the Camp-Mak-A-Dream / Ratpod charity event. 500 plus riders raise nearly $450,000. for this great charity that benefits children with cancer!!!!

Post 1259, the second picture down is Scott Thigpen. Drew is on a green fixie with a white tire. Post 1268, the first picture is Drew McIntosh.
I'm following both of these riders pretty loyally. Scott is a good internet friend, and Drew is a hometown boy. They're both on SS. Drew is riding fixie because apparently he's either that brave or that stupid. I dunno, I've not met him, but I did offer to buy him a beer at a local watering hole here in Knoxville when he gets back.
Thanks, I have made the changes...I am sure I mislabeled a few other as well. Sorry about that.

Thanks to all the TD riders that stopped by Montana High Country Lodge this year. I had a problem with my personal computer so I was unable to post any photos for a week but will catch up now. Also was busy guiding fishermen. Please let me know if I have mislabeled any photos and I will correct them. Congratulations to all the TD riders! # 1

Warm bed, hot breakfast, dry clothes at Montana High Country Lodge and they are off for Lima. Weather may be an issue in the Medicine Lodge / Sheep Creek area.

The weather man was correct...rain this afternoon and snow up on the Pioneer Mountain Scenic Byway. Tom Lane pushed through trying to make it closer to Lima this evening, sure he got soaked. Large group of TD riders staying tonight...Ethan Stewart, Hugh Harvey, Robin Schwartz, Walter Brumniach, Max Morris and Ethan Deutsch. Max took shelter under a tarp during the rain trying to put more cloths on and repair his shifter...looks like he'll be single speeding for a while. Ethan just arrived very wet and cold, he said he rode through several inches of snow up on the byway before dropping down to the lodge this evening.

Several riders came down the Pioneer Mountain Scenic Byway today and stopped at the lodge to fuel up. The weather man was calling for rain this afternoon and snow this evening so this group should make it through the Medicine Lodge / Sheep Creek area on their way to Lima before it gets muddy.
