1  Forums / Question and Answer / compression sack as saddle bag on: April 03, 2010, 08:41:35 PM
hello all, first post and bikepackin newb.

has anyone sucessfully rigged a standard compression sack up to their saddle? it seems it can be done with some webbing straps and w/o too much diy sewing. maybe some stiffener if its a big sack, but i'm sure some webbing sewn in would be lighter. I'm inspired by the expensive rackless systems but not willing to shell out that kind of money. i'm looking for capacity cabilities that can also cinch down for commuting.

also, does anyone know of cheap frame bags with decent capacity. i saw the nashbar (cheap/small) and the jannd (bigger/more $). maybe a bit bigger--3/4 or full size road diamond. i might have to sew one.

someone gave me a nice road bike. bpl has taught me much about getting my pack light (3+ seasons 8lbs base with comfort). I didn't really want a rack. i'm glad i found this site. i think with these two carrying options and a little lashed to the handle bars i'll be set for touring and weekend bikepackin w/o compressing down too much. thanks for the suggestions.
