I just read about that in the Blue Ridge magazine.
Does anyone have any info?
I've only found 100 miles of the trail on gpx, but that's it.

Does that mean that Cjell Money has a new SS reacord? Or was he rerouted like Dave Nice?

Stephen, I would be delighted to meet you in 2013. Sorry to hear about you early withdrawal.
Sorry Stephen.
2013? There's a rider from VT that would be pretty excited that you were riding that year...

Thanks guys.
We'll see if I can afford a TD and a honey moon in the same year(I already asked if the could be combined).

What is riding a Rohloff like?
The Rohloff is great, you just have to pause for a milisecond before shifting.
Add the belt and it's silent.

Could you include age in that spread sheet?  It would be interesting to see how age plays into this.
I really should be working.....

There is no finish time cut-off, however, current convention considers a competitive Divide Route finish time as within approximately 50% of record time for men, and 30% of record time for women. Currently this = 27days (100mi/day) for men, and 31days (90mi/day) for women

Using the projections from yesterday's leader board.
36 people are projected to finish 5 days slower than their target finish. Some more than 30 days(again, according to projections!).

21 people are projected to finish within or below their target finish.(Ester's target finish is "zooooom" so I'm counting her here).

The rest fall between those two extremes(again, according to yesterday's projections(when I made my spreadsheet).

Or the two Italians a few years back who pedaled up from the hiway to the store where some other racer's were stopped. I remember a call in from Allan Goldsmith or another Brit noting how clean they were comparatively.
steve wilkenson(sp?) called them out.

You're welcome.  We enjoy meeting as many of the TD riders as we can.  It is very interesting to find out where they are from and how the TD is going for them.  Over the years we have noticed how up beat the TD riders are reguardless of riding conditions...they are doing what they really love and it shows.  I attached a few TD photos from my archieve, know of of they people?
I recognize those handsome guys in the first two photos.
I'll be swinging by early July Russ; sorry I missed you last time.

Is Brush Mountain Lodge open this year? Their website looks a bit out of date and nobody seems to have mentioned it this year. icon_scratch
Not sure if I'm allowed to say, but someone we all know will be there from the end of June through the 4th.
And I think there will be someone else will be running it the rest of the time.

For those that have ridden these in the race, did you go with them with the standard oil?  I have one, and have found lighter oils/synthetics do help the feel of reduced rolling friction.  Of course Rohloff would scorn this, but I've experimented a bunch and have found a few improvements I think.  Synthetics leave it a bit quieter too, and with 'sweating' or evaporation or oil loss, it seems to work better with reduced volumes of oil.
thanks for reminding me I need to order oil!
I just go with stock, never gave it much thought.

In addition to Ollie and the Tandem, I know of two other Rohloffs in this years race.
Georg - http://kgdeck.blogspot.com/2011/05/29er-finished-in-time-for-td-2012.html
Jon Cox - http://www.paradivideride.org/

Are there other Rohloffs?  And anybody riding with Alfina 8 or 11 this year?

Yeah I'll be ITT'ng on a Belt Drive Rohloff later this month

Yep. Not alot open as they passed the highway near Island Park early this morning. There is a Subway and a couple gas stations there. The golf course doesn't have much in the way of resupply but they do cook good food. I dropped into there for a cheeseburger when i went through in '10 cause I wasnt sure if I  could get to Flagg Ranch that night. Ended up sleeping on top of the pass that night so I'm glad I ate there. They can get a good meal in Flagg Ranch, however.

good to know...is the golf course listed on the maps?

Sometimes I thought I was riding the "Tour De Small Town Diners" in search of the perfect chicken fried steak.

hands down Del Norte

As for the Rohloff - I have always felt it gives me too little GI on the low end regardless of the ring I run up front so I bet the granny gears are just fine for the steeper stuff in MT and CO while gears 11-14 are likely going to be perfect for WY and NM.
agreed.
I'm not sure what belt combo he's running, but my 50x20 was just fine last year.

Hi guys. 10 mins and counting! Can someone let me know how often does the live tracker feed get updated? My other half is nervously at the start line and I'm looking to follow from here but he's still not showing, and there are dots all over.  Guessing everyone's actually lined up though.

Good luck.  I'm so excited for you all.
you'll have to manually refresh the site I believe and the spot units update every 10 minutes I think

Soul Ski and Bikes in downtown Banff. I think they're on Bear St.

http://soulskiandbike.com

Dave, their "chief Soul" (tall bald guy), welcomed me on the finish line of my NoBo race last year, and gave me a PBR. Best PBR ever! (tell him that if you see him!  thumbsup )

I'm about 99% sure it's Jason. also there is Jr. and Dick working there as well. I think the rest are part timers.

At mile 155.6, the north end of FR 212 is now closed and unrideable. A new road has been built to connect FR 206 to FR 212. You no longer need to turn onto State Hwy. 134 to reach FR 212. At this time (Oct. 2011) there are no maps available to view this new connection and we haven't been able to collect mileages or see if signs are installed. If you can get this information and send it to us it would be appreciated.
