This is Allen. Cam, I saw your note at the NUT trailhead - thanks!~

I just got home. I rode the basic loop, with the following exceptions:
At the first bit of the North Umpqua Trail, I crosscountried to the highway when the trail was close to the highway. The fallen trees were a bit much there. I rejoined the route at Lemolo Lake.
I skipped the North Umpqua Trail between the hot springs and Clearwater. The .gpx is my only means of navigation and my phone was dead. I took the highway to Clearwater and charged my phone at the restaurant.
I detoured around the Blue Pool. The Mckenzie River Trail was closed for a bit due to fire. I'm not happy about this. The fire was out and the highway was full of trucks towing boats and campers and junk.
I skipped the Sisters Tie trail after Black Butt. It was getting a bit late and I wanted a burger and a motel room in Sisters.

I'll write more on this trip later, after I sort through my pics and gear and clean up a bit.

Has anyone seen this closure first hand?  Wondering if I can hike through/around?  Thanks.

oh the road near skeleton creek? this is how it was the morning after the storm. dunno how it is now. i couldn't see how far it was, but someone said 1/2 mile. you might be able to traverse the talus hillside, but it will be likely be slow, strenuous, and dangerous. or you might be able to cross the river and crosscountry up the other side. i dunno

Just put up a crude journal at crazyguy if anyone cares: http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/jabantik2015 <- counterclockwise main route with White Clouds, Eagles' Nest, and the road part of Willow Creek options.

You can hike it if you aren't in possession of a bicycle. From Casey's map on the previous page, it looks like you could ride to Bowery, up to and along Germania Creek, and come out at the 4th of July lakes trailhead. I dunno if you can get to the Casino Lakes trails or if they are still legal to ride, but it would be worthwhile if you can and they are.

I guess I should add you can detour around this on the pine-Featherville road, high prairie road, and highway 20. And the word at the Elephant's perch is that they rolled out the white clouds closure and have started issuing tickets

Thunderstorm last night washed out about half a mile of road west of Dollar hide summit near Skeleton Creek, about 5 miles east of Baumgartner. Don't count on going that way anytime soon
