Hello everyone. Just finished up the azt750 last week and I couldn't wait to throw my hat in the ring for something else. Been reading through the threads this years as well as years past. When I clicked on the link on the CTR page for Toby's gpx file it made it seem that there is an updated version coming. Does anyone know if this is indeed the case and if it is available yet and I just might be missing it somewhere?? Lots of great information on these pages. I'm already getting excited.

ITT in November seems do able. The desert section should be awesome. It will be cold on the rim at night but manageable. It's kind of an intriguing idea. Not that I have real world race experience but I have ridden most of the AZT. Keep everyone posted with your intentions and get healthy.

You don't sleep in the desert past 7:00am. It's to hot. Snakes are bad at night. You'll use twice as much water. It would be difficult for someone that's 100% sound and lives here and rides all the time in the heat. It's a bad idea. Stupid seems critical but not smart.

So... There have been some folks having to pull out of the 300 and the 750 for obvious reasons. Good luck recovering from your injuries and in your business endeavors. Do we have an idea who is racing in the 300 and 750 at this point? Like an unofficial roster. I'm planning on the 750. My name is Jason Hanson. Who else is in? Getting close.

Beatty- not to change the subject but I've been doing some research for my dynamo setup and for what it's worth I've read that the plugIII is not great for TD because average speed has to be be wren 9-10mph in order to charge at max power.

Bottom line is simple. Some people will always feel the need to twist s*** around to justify non compliance. I find it somewhat entertaining that those of you In The know even respond to there ignorance. Never the less it's entertaining.

FYI. Just got maps in the mail last week and they are incredible. There won't be any changes to maps before this years TD. I bought the entire set including the Canadian section. Showed up in three days regular postage.

I need to purchase TD maps. I thought that I had read somewhere that the Canadian section was do to be revised this year. Does anyone know this to be true? Would like to buy maps ASAP but don't want to have to but them twice.

All valid points. How long are you planning on it taking you to complete?Do you know if it still counts toward the Triple Crown if you start at Atenlope Wells?

I'm seriously considering north bound instead of starting in Banff. Any thoughts from those with recent experience? I live in Arizona and logistically it would be a lot easier.

I purchased a Delorme in reach thinking it was going to be everything I wanted. I'm sad to say it's not but it could just be me. Let me state for the record that I'm not a tech savy guy. It can do gps stuff but it's not a very friendly piece of equipment to use. It can be paired with your smart phone and the maps downloadable on your phone are of desent quality but the unit it self has sub standard maps in my opinion. I like the idea of being able to send text messages but the key board I awful to use. I purchased a garmin etrex 30 that I just used on the coconino trail race here in Arizona and for purpose of navigation worked great and the maps are awesome. I used the Delorme for a tracker which Matt Lee was able to get online and working for the race but at this point I wish I would have just purchased the spot. I do believe if you're good with tech stuff it has great potential just not my cup of tea. If your thinking you want one let me know if be willing to trace for a spot. Mine is practically brand new.

I think regardless of what racing your doing you have to know your abilities and be willing to challenge yourself. Goes without saying. The people that accel are the individuals that know what there limiting abilities are and embrace them rather than fear them. On any given day an elite athlete can be competitive in a different event or format. Being new to any variation in discipline is a limiter but can be overcome with proper perperation and knowledge. At the end of the day the ones that will always succeed are the individuals who embrace there fears and over come them rather than allow them to become limiting factors. The people that do it for the love of it will outlast those that are in it for money because eventually the new where's off and the money isn't what it used to be. Happens in everything we as humans do when we feel compelled to throw money at something. Just my take

Jason Hanson here with race results. To all those that don't know I did have a pretty severe mechanical/chain problem on day two that forced me to waist about 3-4 hours. The good news I earned about 15 extra bonus miles. Hiking Mingus in the dark might have been better though. Atleast then I only had to keep track of mileage on my Garmin. I'm sorry I missed the campfire at the top. I ended up camping the night a little farther down the trail. Couldn't find the camp site. I crashed coming down Bill Williams. Broke my helmet, banged up my knee, and jammed my wrist but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. The times that I'm giving you are off my Garmin. They might not be completely accurate because I started recording every day when I began to ride as opposed to when I actually got to the appropriate stage starting point. Thanks to everyone that gave advice. I learned a lot about using my GPS and look forward to the next event. Stage 1: 6:58:53. 56.7miles. Stage 2: 17:01:34. 68.4miles. Stage 3: 10:39:04. 62.7 miles. Stage 4: 10:06:39. 70.1 miles.
Stage 1 and 3 should be pretty accurate. Stage 2 was brutal. Ouch. Stage 4 I started when I left hotel and stopped when I got to the car at The Place in Flagstaff. I'm sorry there not more accurate. Please let me know if anyone is planning other rides. I'm always interested.

Scott, just yurbed on Delorme and went to link. It appears that I'm showing up on the map. I guess we're good unless there's anything else I need to do. Might also change and do this as a through ride but haven't decided yet. Not sure if that's something you need to know or if it's to late. Would still be straying with the group if I did change. Thanks. Jason....

I am coming up Thursday night. I was going to sleep in the car to save money but would be interested in sharing a room if it's cheap enough. Also interested to here about your thoughts on riding straight through. Id be interested in doing the same if the pace was right and you were looking for company.
