1  Forums / Question and Answer / Re: Frame Bags - Why did you go w/ that company on: May 17, 2015, 08:18:40 PM
I needed custom bags for my Sawyer because of the klunker style frame. I went with Rogue Panda because they are made in AZ and he was having a sale. VERY happy with my purchase!

I would say that the charging needs would be the mis challenging. The iPhone GPS works when in the sticks, as long as the app you're using has offline maps. I use Navigon for on road stuff and Scenic Maps or Topo Maps for off-road stuff.

Here are 3 of Nick's frame bags and seat bags out on the AZ Trail. Great weekend and not one gear related issue. Highly recommended!

Thanks for the replies...very helpful! We have a vague plan of (eventually) doing the whole thing is stages, but not necessarily in order. I think we're leaning towards an overnighter of about 60 miles on the Sonoita to Tucson portion.

Thanks for checking it out...I'll have to stop in one of these days.

We're getting ready to do our first overnighter and thinking about doing the first few passages of the AZ Trail. We'll follow the 750 race route from the border to Parker Canyon Lake and camp at the lake. The next day we'll do passage 2 and 3 from Parker Canyon to Patagonia (~33 miles). I know that there will be some HAB on between Parker and Patagonia, but I'm wondering how much (5%, 10%, etc.). There will be 4 of us and we're all in pretty good shape and decent bike handlers. Any guesses? We're just trying to get a gauge on how long we should plan on being on the trail on day 2. Thanks!

I have never heard of the Bike Shop Hub, but I see they have a Tucson address. Do you know if they have an actual brick and mortar store, or is it online only?

For bikepacking needs (and Salsas), I would suggest Arizona Bicycle Experts on Speedway. Nice, small shop.

Good stuff! Nick made my frame bag, gas tank bag and seat bag for my Trek Sawyer. Very impressed with the quality and the fit! Maiden voyage (and my 1st bikepacking trip) on the AZ Trail coming up early next month.
