I've got a front wheel if you're still looking. 26", 32 spokes, DT Swiss XR 4.1 rim with rim brake surface, DT Swiss 240 hub (QR, 100m, ISO - to switch between disc/rim brake bikes). I had it built by my LBS for my older XC mtb that I no longer have. Used but in great shape. The rear wheel in the pics is gone (used the hub on a different build) Front for $100 plus shipping. Let me know if you're interested!

Hey Erin, the new proper loop looks great! And with so many resupply options!

I missed the big depart but headed out there 6/1. Very excited

Not sure what your route plans are this coming weekend... there are predictions for thunderstorms in the Santa Barbara backcountry for the next handful of days. Looks like one out there right now (5/29). Here's a weather resource to check before you go: https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?zoneid=CAZ052

Also, anyone on the proper route loose a flashing red taillight? I found it on Elkhorn Road the first night.

I'm in for April 26 and not-likely for March 22. If I joined you all on 3/22, I'd do the proper route in "tour" mode...so really just out there at the same time. Would definitely prefer better trail conditions.

+1 on the Mezcal.

I used a single set of Mezcal 29 x 2.25 tubeless in TD17. Pics are from shortly after my finish. The rear wore down more than the front. I couldn't even find any sealant leaking through. These were the G+ version which I'd recommend. The regular version is more supple than the G+ and feels more like Nano's. They aren't invincible though. A friend of mine sliced a sidewall on a G+ Mezcal. We sewed it up and he rode it for another 50 miles or so. I've also used Nanos, Thunder Burt and Sparwoods. I like all of them but the Mezcals have lasted the longest.

Hey Erin, put me down for the shuttle! I rode from Hwy 166 to Painted Rock campground this weekend. Nice weather, water in livestock troughs, chunky road up until that gate.

Count me in for the shuttle!

Where will it leave from? The finish at the train station in SB?

Hi Rachel, you had a solid ride last year. Glad to hear you want to come back this year. With your preference for the April 1st start date, it seems like there might be a majority that prefer an April 1st start date.

So here is what I will do. Everyone please voice their opinion on their preference for the start date (March 25 or April 1st) on this thread by NEXT TUESDAY MARCH 1ST. I will tally up the votes and lock in the final date by March 2nd.

I don't want to piss off anyone who was planning on the March 25th date, so it is only fair to give a week for everyone to voice their opinion.

Also on another note--- after talking with a few riders that have done the route the last two years, I have decided to eliminate the majority of the Santa Barbara front country trails from the "proper" route. I don't necessarily agree with the criticism that section has received over the last 2 years, but I try to look at the route as objectively as possible and listen to everyone's opinion. Sometimes less is more. Here is the final 2016 "proper" route:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/12237792   I would expect about a 75% finish rate with this revised route, rather than the 50% finish rate we have seen the last two years.

My vote is for 4/1. I'm also in for a shuttle to the start from SB.
