It's looking like a modified form of Cuba -> Grants dirt will be in the TD route this year.  (applause!  fanfare!)  This will help compensate for the forest closures and make it so there isn't 200+ miles of continuous pavement.  The idea, perhaps, is that it'll be required only when forest closures are in place -- that means it's unlikely clay mud and flooding arroyos will be an issue.  This is because the forests will reopen if given enough moisture.

Hoping to have first round GPX available Monday.
Yeah thanks Scott for that! Excited to get riding in those Navajo hoodoos and Cerro drainages , arroyos

Just went to v2 on the 2022 TD GPX:

adds two sections of gravel/dirt to the Gila Mountains fire rereoute through Glenwood, NM.
It looks good - at least the Gila forest from that side of route

Scott/Mike - I see the new route skips the first half of the rail trail out of Sawtelle, staying on roads and passing through Island Park.  I'm not complaining, but noticed as I study for changes.  Was this on purpose? Or, a mapping error?

Thanks
Tom
I rode that new section on the classic last year, the rail trail from big springs to island park is chewed up severely by atv activity. The rest of the rail trail is still not bad to travel on

Tour Divide is awesome and it changes lives in many great ways. The Race as an endeavor for recording official times in Individual Time Trials and what is referred to as "The Grand Depart" which traditionally occurs on the 2nd Friday of June is a super cool way to participate in this unsanctioned "near underground" EPIC adventure.

The countdown is on and I am excited for June 11!
Well June 11th is a Border-to-Border for all practical purposes. TourDivide is not happening this year because of Pandemic restrictions remaining on place.

Union is, because the old alternate (reroute) is now the main route and vice versa.  Not sure about Wamsutter as I have not yet downloaded the cues.

I was always a scratch with a time limit. My vacation goal was to make silverthorne however rookie issues and external factors ended my ride in Helena.
I was planning to do what I term as a Sandwich of the GDMTBR - Banff to Silverthorne then later Antelope Wells to Silverthorne.
The first day was really challenging with the cold relentless rain and it left me very wet and tired at Bolton campground. Lesson to the wise - waterproof your bags and invest in the best rain gear. lesson 2 study the maps everyday and stretch for daily mileage goals or destinations. Lesson 3 enjoy opportunities to ride with another person that can provide two way motivation.
Sometimes the solo days were good and sometimes the solo days were fraught with uncertainty and doubt.
Lesson 4 - I should have attended to my left Achilles soreness more diligently as by Seeley Lake I had a very weak ankle.
I know this sounds like a lot but I learned invaluable methods to help me next year yes next year!

I learned to pedal softer on long inclines and I became a better peak climber. The trail is amazing and I became very much in tune with forests and less afraid of the wild creatures though I never let my guard down.
I loved the riders although one was a complainer - note to be gentle and kind - I just put miles between me and that attitude.😎
I was full and of gratitude for town's folks and trail Angels.

Lastly I appreciate my ultra bikepacking community and the people who are our fans.

I want to ride my bicycle until I die and I want to go to Heaven and praise my Creator and ride my bike there also.

Per the Tour Divide 2016 Racers: Race Pics, Blog Links and Race Updates FACEBOOK Page.

Pasted from Facebook
As it goes, the information that some want to plan, track, and report their Race/Adventure on the Divide Route - "is underground" and filled with lots of piece mill content. Its cool to research the various channels of information flow. The SPOT clip comes directly from the FACEBOOK page. There are several GDMBR pages, so go to the one aforementioned..

The Divide Confirmation Form and Spot Tracking Registration Form (including Spot Rental) is live!!!! Follow instructions from Matt Lee below:
From Matt Lee: "Please complete the "TD 2016 Confirmation of Understanding" form at the below link, and it will produce a receipt for you that contains the link to register for the live GPS tracking.
