2 - Atop Georgia Pass about 7:30 AM, Monday morning. Someone chime in with their names [Teresa, Tom, Justin?]. That sure was an awesome descent. It's so much easier in the daylight and just a blast on a full suspension bike. Even a fully loaded bike.

Thanks for the pic Barry! Yes, me in the Green, atop Georgia. Wanted to make it by sunrise, but wasn't quite fast enough.

Nice work Barry and nice meeting you out there! "Third time's a charm? Indeed!" Once you start, you will never leave.

Seem more like 13 hours which is totally reasonable.

Britt,
I would agree with woodland and say 6.5 days is pretty realistic. There are obviously countless variables that will affect your time. Being your first attempt I would recommend simply riding as hard as possible. Shooting to sleep 5 hours a night is a great idea, but I think it's more important to listen to the mind and body. You may find five hours is just not necessary or you may find 5 hours just won't cut it. You really don't know how you will react until you try. Keep the mind right the body always follows.

Yes pleases! A different thread is definitely warranted. The excitement is much too great when the "CTR Planning" thread pops up at the top.

Is Jason the only finisher? Not sure if there are spot issues or this is just one mean route?

In my opinion, do anything in your power to get everything off your back. Absolutely no backpack at all, EVER. Obviously, your hands and feet will like you a little better if you ride a FS, but your back and shoulders will definitely not be happy. I rode the CTR on a soft tail Ti, which for me is the the perfect bike. The soft tail totally saved my butt and the combination of Ti and tubeless adds all the suspension I need. I will never ride anything else.
