The re-routes will be on the gpx track right? I won't have to just know exactly where they are? Theoretically as long as you follow the gps line you should be fine...?

Kiwidave- Thanks, Ill get my email out to that address.

I found the unofficial starter list google doc. I put my name on there.

Isn't there another list to get your name on and also to send a letter of intent?

Also, Where can I find the starters list?

Thanks for all the responses, I love reading through the forums. I have a few more questions.

Does anyone know how to get on trackleaders? When does this need to be done by?
I have my own Spot, just need to get it linked up to trackleaders.

Also, can you still rent spots for the ride? I know they have been available to riders in the past, my brother is looking to possibly rent one.

Any thoughts on using a carbon seat post? Good idea/ bad idea?.... It's whats already on my bike.

Thanks again for all the feed back!

I went ahead and had a SP-PD8x dynamo hub built on a DT Swiss rim. Excited to try it out.

Now I'm looking on for advice on a carbon fork set up. Trying to decide between the Niner RDO or the Salsa Firestarter. Any advice would be great!

Hey guys, Looking for some input on dynamo wheel overall weight.

I am building a SP PD-8x dynamo on a DT-swiss rim (xm401) was thinking brass nipples and double butted spokes. I think the wheel will be about 1125.76 grams. Is that to heavy? Just about right? Average for a dynamo wheel? I don't know, I've never built one nor have I seen one in person.

Looking for opinions on wheel build options, I don't wan't to build the heaviest wheel but I also want it to be reliable on the divide.

Thanks for your input!

Sandy

I am in Tucson and we have a lot of nice routes you can do several days on if you choose. But just a heads up. It can get pretty cold here at night during January/ February at night. Day time riding might be nice but expect close to freezing temps at night. Also Mount Lemon is awesome for trainging but again the top of that thing has snow on it. So just an FYI if you're planning on a winter training destination.
I am from the Chicago area and I made the mistake once of coming here thinking ahh its the desert it will be warm! I was wrong.

Unfortunately I couldn't make the starting line this year due to work obligations. Next year I will be set up better!

I am wondering how many riders were on a 1x configuration at this years race? anyone have any info on that?

Thanks!

I was just in the Boat recently checking out the route in and out of town. Well from the top of the mountain anyway Smiley
BA has two shops in town pretty close to Orange Peal.
The Big Agnes bag is a bit expensive but I get a pretty good deal on them. Im not to worried about "using" my expensive gear, thats why i buy it.
I have a down tech bag from them and I really like it. I haven't had any problems with the down but I also haven't had it in pouring rain either. It seems like a lot of companies are using a treated down or blend these days, it must work.

Thanks Flinch
Sounds like 40 deg bag is the magic number. I want to go with BA because I like there sleep system designs. The pitch pine is a 45 now. I think that is the bag I'll go with. Unless something better comes up between now and June.

Thanks for the insight. I was thinking about changing my bag maybe in Steamboat to something lighter weight. I have been in sub freezing temps in august in Montana. But I can also layer up. The idea of a liner is a good too.
I am looking at the big agnes Pitch Pine 45 deg. with 850 down tech insulation, super light weight bag.
Anyone else thought of this sleeping bag option?

I think I may have touched on this subject before. But to the people who have ridden the route in the past. What kind of temps did you encounter at night? At what point along the route does the temperature really warm up? Say 45 degrees and warmer at night.
I went on a prep ride yesterday and I was entirely to warm at night. Granted I think the low temp during the night was maybe in the high 40's. I have a 30 deg big anges sleep system. Im wondering if I should go with a higher temp rating.

What temp bags have you used? What sleeping bags are people planning on using this year?

Thanks for all the input and responses to all my posts!

I have signed up on the google doc sheet and need to send letter of intent.
Does the letter of intent get sent to tourdivide@gmail.com?

Also I have the 2015 gpx file on my garmin. Do we know if it will be the same route? Will a new file be posted if it changes?

Thanks!

I found out the same thing on my last ride in the pouring rain. Still trying to decide on going with a gortex jacket or something like a $100 marmot or pataguchi.
For me the problem is i'll sweat in a rain jacket.. might as well not wear it. I need some sort of ventilation.
Outdoor Resarch (Axiom) has some nice gortex jackets that fit well with a helmet, as well as Mountain Hardwar and Arcteryx (Beta Lt hybrid)
Those are a couple that I really like.

I'm looking into tires. The Maxxis Ikon seams to be the popular tire out there.
Looking at the specs on the tire there are several versions of the same tire.

3c, exo, and tr.
my guess is it has something to do with the compound of the rubber and or sidewalls. I do not see a break down on the website of what these are.
Can anyone tell me what those abbreviations are for?

Thanks!
Got my Cordillera in the mail today! Enjoying it so far!

Anyone have a Salsa Deadwood? Looking for comparisons to the Fargo. They basically look the same. Wondering about running smaller wheels how does it affect the BB height.

Post up your pics and reviews.

Kiwidave-
I've ordered the cordillera it's probable sitting at home. While i'm still away for the holiday. Looking forward to getting into that book.
Copy the Stans refill. I will do that in Steamboat, i've spent a lot of time there so it shouldn't be a problem picking some up in one of there many bike shops. I will also carry at least one small bottle with me.
I did read in some older forums about Maxxis having problems with Stans sealant. Something with the chemical compound. It was several years old. Can anyone comment on that? Is it still an issue?
I'm interested in the WTB Nano, looks like a good tire. But I also can appreciate using what has already been proven by other riders.
I agree with the lightest tire with most reliability, but never having ridden the divide i'm not sure what the terrain will be. My only real concern with tires is damaging the side wall. I think punctures, while aggravating, can be dealt with.
I never pay to much attention to what i'm riding on at home... when they're flat I fix them. When they get to worn out I get new ones..
I'm getting a new Fargo, trying to decide if i should run the stock tires for the divide or swap them out. (I do plan on putting on a fresh set before i fly out)
