I use an SOL Escape Bivy (8oz), with a Klymit Ozone pad (13oz), and a 30 degree down quilt (17oz) which keeps me pretty warm, well rested and the total weight is 2lbs 6oz.

Very tenacious finish John! Congrats! Should make for an excellent story.

LS Brian, I had similar observations and feelings about the race. I rode and leapfrogged with you and the rest of the guys you mentioned throughout the race. My finish was a little bittersweet since I got to the finish with Riley and Ejay and wanted to continue with them. Not sure if I will be able to make it next year but I will definitely make it in 18 for the 750.

Great job Hoka Hey! Very tough course for your first. This was my second race and it did not disappoint. I don't know if I'll do the 300 ever again but I will do the 750. I use a Klymit Inertia Ozone sleeping pad which has an integral pillow and weighs 12 ounces and packs to the size of a soda can. The pillow is great and the whole thing blows up in 10 or less breaths even after riding for 12+ hours. Works great even on bumpy ground.

Thanks to Scott Morris for putting this together and my apologies for all of the bad things I said during my low points while pushing my bike up yet another hill.  icon_biggrin

Windy, with a southwest wind around 31 mph, with gusts as high as 49 mph.

I think that's how hard it was blowing trying to make into the Kentucky Camp on Day 1.

Good to see Brett made it the North Rim. Last time I saw him was up on Oracle Ridge laying next to the trail with a tummy ache. Good thing his wife packed some pepto in his FA kit. Looks Riley is right on his 6.

Go Brett and Riley!

Looks like that 1pm start worked out well to finish under 9 days.

Go Cjell!

Is it safe to leave a vehicle parked at the Picketpost TH or would it be better to find a spot in Superior and ride to PP to catch the shuttle? I am not fast and will take 4-5 days to complete the 300 route so I'm concerned about leaving my vehicle there that long. What do most people do?

my gear is nearly ready
I leave for Phoenix March 26 then plan to bike the 300 southbound, but am planning to stay ~April 1 to April 9 in the Tucson area with some camping overnight at altitude to get acclimatized (changed my mind about camping at altitude near the mex border)
if any locals or other early arriving AZTR'ers want to show me some rides or yak over a beer, I'd appreciate a shout, thanks

Rod, I thought the coyote rode an Acme Cycle.

Booked a flight for two people to Tucson. Arriving at 11am on Thursday. Now we just need to figure out the best way to get the bikes there and a shuttle from Tucson to the start of the 750. Open to jump on a shuttle with some people.

Tara at Homegrown MTB still had some spots open when I booked yesterday. They are picking up some at Picketpost and then picking up the rest in Tucson on the way to Parker Canyon on Thursday.

Give Tara a call at Homegrown MTB. They are offering an option to go from Picketpost to Tuscon, and then on to Parker Lake on Thursday. I just booked a spot.

Just spoke with Tara and booked my spot. She still has spots left if anyone else is looking for a ride.

I just talked with Over the Edge in Sedona - who appear to have purchased the Magic or Mystery Van (you all know it, retro 70's style van) - and they don't seem to be offering the Picketpost to Parker shuttle. At least the guy I talked to didn't think so.

Any other options that people know of? I'd rather not do the option into Tuscon, and have to find a place to stay and then get up early to drive down the morning of the race...but I guess if that's all there is, I'll do it.

I am also looking for a shuttle from Picketpost to Parker. I am driving from NorCal so I would be open to working out a self shuttle if we can't find a service. I can carry 2 plus myself in my vehicle.

Ok, I stopped being lazy and called.

Albertson's is open 6am -12am. Walgreens is open 7am-10pm.

Yogi...  Yes the rincon market is gone and you are right about the circle K being the closest alternative.  Sucks to lose such a convenient store!

Looks like the Albertsons on Broadway is only a mile further off route than the Cirkle K on Tanque Verde. I am assuming that Albertsons is still open?
