Yeap, just booked transfers and camping with them. im getting really excited about the trip. i hope to run in to others out on the route.
I figured I would be starting at a popular time. The guidebook suggests mid August as a prime time to head south... Maybe the interwebs think different.

Anyone starting the Great Divide in early august 2016(late notice - right)? I am a 35yo/M from CO with touring and mountain experience. It would be good to start out the trail with others and see if there is a good group dynamics. I have high aspirations of doing the route in ~30days, but I will go slower if that makes sense( I am under no time constraints). Not interested in setting any speed records just having a good time.
Thanks, Joe

I am planning to do the CDT route this summer. I will be in az for a wedding in early June and was considering starting around june 7-8th. I am 34 yo male avid cyclist with some bike touring background, and backpacking experience from Colorado. Any chance you would be able to start earlier? There is a strong chance that i will ride to CO and stop and do the rest later. I would expect to ride between 50-100mi/ day. I am not out there to set any speed records, but really just want to enjoy touring and the openness or the rural west. The southern part of the route seems to be the most desolate and i figure a good place to at least start out with someone. let me know what you think.
Joe
