Do you know about TarpTent? Have you looked online in places like WhiteBlaze for used tents under 2 pounds? Lots of ways to go light and small.

so most of what I've found in these forums using the search function is that people who are using the SOL Bivy are using it in conjunction with a bag. I've got a North Face Soloist Bivy and am thinking of using the SOL Bivy in place of a bag. Anyone try using it in lieu of a bag in conjunction with a tent/tarp/bivy?
Save your money for a real sleeping bag.

I think i will just start off with just a sleeping bag and sleeping in shelters or hostels around my route. When it comes to food i would carry what i need for the day and then restock at a store the next day i think.
How many hostel stays pay for a tent?
TarpTent has tents that weigh less than 2 pounds and take up little space on the bike.
Where are you that you have access to shelters?
