Surly no longer makes an XXL but that doesn't mean I don't want to buy one! Anyone have one they're willing to sell? Frame only and complete bikes considered.

Works great. Only used about four times. (I've moved my generator hub to my wife's commuter to power a headlight. She doesn't bikepack.)

Do you bikepack alone or do you consider it too dangerous? I ask because I'm planning a week-long solo trip in the Sierras for this summer. The riding I'll be doing is tame enough- dirt roads, mostly- but I'll be a long way from other people, cars, etc. And if you do go solo, do you consider a Spot-type device essential? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

First time post after extensive lurking: do people find this piece of equipment worthwhile? If not, do you have an alternative you prefer? Recommendations appreciated. On  my previous three day trips I've powered off my iPhone whenever I've been riding to conserve the charge. This year I'm going for 7 days. Solar? Poaching in towns? Other?
