I'm planning a long weekend bikepacking trip connecting the Bizz Johnson Trail that ends in Susanville, CA with the Modoc Line Rail Trail. I've never been up to that area, but it looks intriguingly remote. Anyone ever experience this trail? I'm wondering mainly about water resupply - it looks like the trail goes by several lakes but I'm not sure if they'd be dry in the late autumn - and also trail conditions, tire recommendations, etc. Thanks!

I'm looking for riding partners for the northern portion of the Baja Divide. My plan is to ride about 300 miles of this route during my spring break, from 3/18 to 4/1, starting in San Diego and finishing in Vicente Guerrero, from which I'll take a bus back to Tijuana and points north. Unfortunately because of my teaching schedule I don't really have flexibility with the dates.

I'm a reasonably fit long distance biker and experienced backcountry camper, riding a Surly Krampus with frame bags. Depending on the terrain and length of day, I tend to ride around 30-50 miles per day doing fully loaded off road touring.
