Looks like Deanna may have re-thought her bike choice...quite the head scratcher, or maybe it was the flip-flops??
definitely one of the more interesting bike setups I've seen in recent memory lol

He's on about a two month pace right now. I hope he has an awesome time out there and is enjoying himself but at that slow of a pace I'm more concerned for his food / water situation on a day to day basis. Know any more details about his ride?

Hitting the record or not, what an awesome effort from Lael. Her REI Every Trail Connects video was my first exposure to both bikepacking and the Arizona Trail. Always rooting hard for her.

Hey All,
Happy New Year's.
Hoping to do the 750 this year and am in process of planning. How do people get out from Stateline Campground if you are from "out of town" and don't have a support crew to pick you up? Do you get a shuttle service to get you back to Flagstaff for a flight out?
Thanks,
Hal
Circle Tours – Offers shuttle services to various northern Arizona/southern Utah trailheads. Contact Kyle Walker at 888-854-7862. Paria Outpost – Run by Susan and Stephen Dodson, has a shuttle service. Contact them at 928-691-1047 ^Those were listed on OneOfSevenProjects site and I actually called Kyle at Circle Tours in March to help me out with shuttling (we started our ride at Stateline). He was willing to pick us up in St George and take us to Stateline, although it was pricey. I'd give him a call and see if he could help you out in any way, or at least get you from Stateline to a town close by and figure out how to get to Flag from there. (note: we ended up not using him since we had friends that were in the area and helped us out) Also, from the AZT site, there were these ones listed that look like they could be of help: TRAILS END SHUTTLE Trails End Shuttle & Tours provides shuttle services and guided tours to destinations along the Arizona Trail including the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and trailheads within the Grand Staircase and Vermilion Cliffs National Monuments. Call or email Tim Stephenson for details: 928-614-4109, trailsendshuttle@gmail.com. FLAGSTAFF SHUTTLE & CHARTER Flagstaff Shuttle & Charter (928-814-8341) provides custom shuttles to and from any point on the Arizona Trail, including both North and South trailheads, shuttling to any location in the southwest including the rims of the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, Phoenix and Las Vegas.EDIT: may want to stay away from Flagstaff Shuttle and Charter, just read the yelp reviews.....yikes! https://www.yelp.com/biz/flagstaff-shuttle-and-charter-flagstaff

Never thought pepper spray would be on the AZT equipment list... Still think a person is more likely to be injured driving to and from the trailheads.
On average, 3 fatal bear attacks per year in North America and the average keeps dropping. About 30,000 car related fatalities per year in North America. Your scenario is much more likely to happen. You're more likely to fall off the toilet while shitting and die than get attacked by a shark. Most bear attacks are defensive attacks by the bear, not usually provoked. As long as you know how to handle bear situations, you can easily get out of them unscathed. Unfortunately, most people don't know how to react with a run in with a bear and make the situations worse, but these instances are pretty few and far between.

Used Hammer Perpetuem on Tour Divide 2016 and it worked great. Could go all day and not need anything else. I use it on long training rides and will use it again on the TD northbound this year. I find drinking my calories a lot easier than chewing, I eat a variety of solid food before and after the days ride. It is a great way to keep blood sugar at a constant, no bonking.
My brother, David Jones, RAAM record holder used it almost exclusively while racing. Everything else we tried on earlier endurance races caused all the usual problems, bloat, indigestion, bonking etc.
I also want to recommend Hammer's Recoverite for end of day. Makes a big difference on how you feel the next day.
I'm going to check this product out. I always have a hard time to eat solids when running / cycling, I end up just chewing bites of whatever in my mouth for an infinite time and it's so hard to swallow. How many times in a typical long distance cycling day do you mix up a new drink?

Nice writeup, and good meeting you. You guys should come back out next year and give the 300 a try!
thanks Aaron! Nice meeting you too, I followed your dot the entire way, rooted hard for you! Kevin is for sure in for the 300. I get my knees looked at tomorrow and if I don’t need any surgery, I’m training my ass off and giving the 300 a try too. I’m bummed I missed out on some good desert riding.
