Further north, Stefano Romualdi was looking good. He had some really frustrating tire issues - his Maxxis Ikon was slashed to the point tubeless didn't work, and was running tubes, which keep going flat.. Pump wasn't working either. Looks like he found some help at the Toaster House.
  He's riding a Locomotive frame -  looks like a Fargo/Cutthroat emulation.

Ty Hopkins looked pretty weary heading to the border, but smiled for the camera!

The road to the border is hot, hazy and windy this week. First photo is at I-10 going to Hatchita, second is Hatchita, third is the community center, fourth is the water hydrant there. Temps weren't crazy high - 95-98 degrees

AWW!  I missed Lewis coming through town last night -  I'll try to get photos of riders as they come through.

Could this be the 1st ever year with a Northbound winner? Forcast is looking like an early monsoon in NM. I don't think the Southbound frontrunners have ever had to deal with our SW uber clay (unrideable).
The weather conditions will certainly play a big factor. If Hurricane Bud drops the amount of moisture currently forecast, we will have monsoon mud very early.....  You're right, typically no mud till 25-30 day riders.

Maybe a little late on this forum, but we see a lot of Maxxis Ikon and Ardent Race, 2.25 & 2.4 come through working well.

Based on what we've seen, Continental Race King Protection 2.2 seem to be the fastest/very durable choice.

All these are typically run on front or dual suspension bikes. A 2.25 tire run on a rigid fork is harsh...

I missed some great opportunities for photos of the NB leaders...
Dom looked solid . he stopped for 10 min to get food & water.  I've never seen so much evaporated salt on a human before - big crystals standing off of his ears...

Chase Medina got a new chain - was in great spirits.

One of these years a NB rider will win & folks will realize it's the better direction... ;-)

Marty Johnson had issues the first day in Separ, now I see he is in Silver City last few hours, visited a motel and pharmacy. Anyone have intel on his situation?

I rode with Marty in 2015, and bumped into him in 2017 along the trail.

Hope he is OK.

We didn't see Marty at our shop, but reports were he was really struggling with heat exhaustion. Left Separ, realized he wasn't good to go till Silver, took some time to recover.

Hi folks,
New to the forums here, don't know what's taken so long....

Some info on our new Divide related website - it's still under construction, but people can contact us for rides & shop service. We'll also be updating route & water info.
Need a ride? Let us know!
