1  Forums / Question and Answer / Re: 2020 drinking water thread. on: February 25, 2020, 08:05:06 PM
New decade means new ideas?  About water?

I have not yet found the one and only way to make my water safe to drink.  If there is a way to do so.  Most of the time I find something wrong with my new filter or gadget-

I might start just boiling water.

I believe there's no ultimate solution, but boiling is always a good practice. I have iodine tablets and carry a small water filter, but the only guaranteed way to kill everything (bacteria, viruses, protozoa) is to boil the water.  So nothing new, really, esp since that situation where your filter broke/fail is quite real, still you can boil your water.
As for heavy metals and stuff - unless you're planning to drink the water long-term (and I mean it - for weeks, months or so) I wouldn't worry about it.
2  Forums / Question and Answer / Night time riding - equipment/advice on: February 19, 2020, 02:15:04 AM
Greetings! Long-time reader, finally decided to sign up.

Work make it difficult to ride during daylight hours so I would like to start riding at night (guess it'd be just poorly lit streets and roads at first, as I'm getting used to it).
Solo, if this matters. Anything worth buying apart from light equipment and reflective gear?
Not going to do anything too difficult, but any advice would be appreciated.
Also need recommendations both for flashlight and headlight - from what I found, it's recommended to use both on night roads. Or it would be an overkill?

Thanks in advance!
3  Forums / Question and Answer / Re: How To Carry a Laptop Around the World Bikepacking? on: February 19, 2020, 01:57:42 AM
icon_biggrin Today I bought a 2020 Giant Revolt 2 Gravel bike.
icon_biggrin I ordered bags on Amazon:
 sign13 Saddle,
 sign13 Top Tube,
 sign13 Bottom Tube,
 sign13 Handlebar.

sad2 But my Macbook cannot fit in the dimensions of the Saddle bag.  Do any of you carry a laptop (for video editing) while bikepacking?

 glasses2 Thank you in advance.

I prefer not to take mine while I'm backpacking, still when I need to I simply use a rack and waterproof pannier (for laptop, diary, notebook and other miscellaneous chattel).
