The Tailfin racks seem to be the ultimate versions of modern racks. The carbon one gets down to 257g (~9oz), plus the weight of a dry bag and straps. I?m guessing that would be close to the weight of many seat bags. I myself have gone with a Revelate Spinelock, but I might consider a Tailfin in the future. Pricey, though.

Hi all - new member here. I've mountain-biked and backpacked for years but only very recently have been grabbed by the notion of bikepacking. I don't have a "real" bike-packable ride yet but I'm working on it. I've never biked this far in a day but I'm pretty sure I'd have no problem doing it with an overnight. Part of me is curious to try it out. So, I'd be game. I live in SF, not far from your start part. FWIW, this past weekend I did two loops from home to Marin and back. I rode to Tamarancho yesterday but there was a sign there indicating the trail was closed until May 4 (today). I passed on riding it, but did notice a few people coming off/on the trail. So, it does make we wonder if other trails on your route will be similarly closed. But, again, I'm game to try if/when the coast is clear.
