Hi everyone, just found this community and it's so cool to see!
I'm trying to figure out the right rear rack solution for my wife's bike because we have a couple of really specific requirements that most of the rear racks I'm looking at don't meet:
First, we live in quite tight quarters. The best solution we've found to store our bikes is the Bike Nook, so to put the bikes away, we need to tilt them upright. That means we need to have enough clearance on top of the rack so that the upright stay of the Nook can get on the seat post. Second, my wife needs the seat adjusted quite low. On her bike, if I install a standard sized rack (I've tried the Topeak Explorer), that 14.5 inches of height above the lower mount point actually interferes with the bottom of the saddle.
The ideal height above that lower mount point appears to be between 11 and 12 inches. That should comfortably clear her tires and leave plenty of room to stand the bike upright. And if such a small (or adjustable) rack exists, it would be really nice for the pannier mounting rails to be 10mm, since that will let my wife and me share panniers.
Do you have any recommendations on a rear rack that would work?
