and as quietly as she started her second TDR this year, Lael will finish, setting yet another woman's record, and a record for the first rider to ride the TDR both as a rookie and a veteran in the same year. I hope there is someone to greet her at the finish - or will she just turn around and ride back?!

Yup I am out. Twas a pretty easy call, a mediocre start/position coupled with BB wobbles and shot rear hub by Wise River topped off with a nasty open wound saddle sore. I fought thru the same saddle sore issue in 2010 but no way was it worth attempting this time around.
Best of luck to all who persevered thru the rain and are still plugging away!
Marshal
Sorry to hear you scratched, but glad to know you are Okay. I followed you in 2010 and your advice helped me prepare for my 2011 attempt that ended in Butte.

The Pilot
It is a vast open place where the eagles soar. Flying high above this beautiful land that we adore.
It is this beauty and glory that keep you flying. As time slows down and the wind keeps you gliding.
In this time a sense of peace and tranquility amass. A calm so serene that only heaven can surpass.
As you look down now you must be elated. You can now see the entirety of what God has created.
As we look up to the sky we are smiling too. For we know one day we will share the same view.
So keep on soaring and watching from above. Forever touching the lives of the ones you love.

As one of the legion of blue-dot-watchers, I'm really surprised at the the lack of visibility on google maps of the businesses, camping, and other things along the route. It's fairly easy to suggest edits in google maps or to even use google map maker to enter them yourself. If you have multiple people who can vouch for what "thing" is "where", you can get through the google vetting process pretty easily. (Google wants at least one person to agree that a change you've made or recommended is correct.)
It would help out riders for planning, it would help blue-dot-spectators, businesses along the route, and travellers-passing-through.
The NSA is watching.

I think that they should throw out the results this year. Not enough rain and snow to justify a true Tour Divide! I know some riders from last year and their pace is way ahead of where they were last year. I guess we need to drag out the snow machines!
Based that logic, 2011 was the only legitimate year, so my performance should be multiplied by 3 and I should be credited with a finish.

He finished a few hours ago, so just under 21 days. Was picked up by JW and his wife and on the way back, so we should hear details from him soon.
Sounds like he had an awesome ride. I enjoyed his call ins.

Does anyone know how Tony Cervati is doing? His spot shows him in Whitefish for almost 3 days. I hope he is having a much better experience than he did last year.

I use Google translator ( https://support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=173424&p=ib_translation_bar) and enjoy the interesting language conversion. For example: Since a large part of the route passes through areas that are inhabited by animals that we encounter Europeans usually rather only in the zoo, is the knowledge of relevant in this regard conduct mandatory (bear bell and whistle, bear spray, incarceration and high slopes of food supplies) or "Drafting is forbidden as well as in the Fall in team. That during the course of several days, and small groups (of suffering) communities form, is not only inevitable but also an essential part of the TD-culture. We camped together often, but usually runs off independently of each other." Thanks for sharing your TDR experience George! It has been very enjoyable following your preparations and then reaching Antelope Wells !!

Huge congratulations, admiration and respect for Fixie Dave finishing on a FIXED GEAR !!!! As someone who trains with a fixed gear on pavement in the "off season" I can only imagine what it took to complete this monumental journey on terrain that us mere mortals struggled over on loaded bikes with gears. How many people have completed the full TDR route on a fixed gear? BTW, does anyone know how the guy on the unicycle is doing?
