These tents retail for $350 in the USA and they are not available in the UK until later in the summer.

Brand new Sub 1kg, innovative Truss-ring hoop means that you end up the same amount of space as a Golite Shangri-La 3 Tent but you only need 1 walking pole rather than 2 (which means it will work with a shorter ultralight pole if you bikepacking - rather than the mega heavy Shangri La 3 pole)

Bought earlier in the week and put up in the garden for 10 minutes to look at it, but I have decided that despite being several kilograms lighter I’m sticking with my aging Hilleberg.

Selling for £140 plus postage
3  Forums / Question and Answer / Hammock Users - help? on: April 11, 2012, 09:31:08 AM
I'm after purchasing my first hammock after years of sleeping on the floor.

Got the choices down to either a Hennessy Ultralight Backpacker or the Hennessy Ultralight Explorer.

Problem is i'm exactly 6 foot tall. (well under the weight limit for both - so no problems there)

So do i buy the lighter and cheaper Hennessy Ultralight Backpacker which is rated up to 6 foot tall

or

Do i buy the more expensive and heavier Hennessy Ultralight Explorer rated up to 7 foot tall.

Which will give me a comfier nights sleep? Will i only just fit the Ultralight Backpacker and will it be cramped so less comfy?

I prefer the lighter and cheaper option if its just as comfy........
4  Forums / Question and Answer / Frame bags - what do you pack in yours? on: May 24, 2011, 02:10:14 PM
Just wondering what is your typical pack list for a frame bag.

Currently use a Revelate saddlebag and sling, but looking to get a frame bag and wondering what people manage to fit in theirs.

Hello,

I’ve just joined bikepacking.net after finding the site a couple of months ago, so this is my first post. The reason why I have called for you 3 gents is I have found pictures on the site of your homemade DIY projects.

I have just made a custom frame bag for my Chromag Hardtail, mainly by looking at the photos on this site and various links to other sites and blogs. It has been a very successful project.

I made it from an off cut of kelvar re-enforced cordura that I found cheap on a UK fabric site – supposedly what they make fireman suits from.  It is a very strong fabric for the weight but not water resistant, so I have just ordered some X-PAC fabric from Germany for my next project.

The Seat Pack

I am intending on buying an Epic Designs/Revelate seat pack in the New Year (or sooner if funds allow), but I’m also interested in having a go at making my own for use in the autumn but also as a spare as I’m trying to persuade my girlfriend to try bikepacking with me.

I am looking, if you would be so kind, for any tips, hints, build photos or templates that you might have on your seatpacks that might help me along the way. This build def looks more complex than the frame bag, esp. the flexible frame, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers,

Rik
