I get the feeling that It was a cohesive and supportive riders out there! I remember feeling like everyone was just isolated and less than supportive on my attempt. Not a lot of comraderie even at the places in town as we crossed paths during fueling. Glad to see the change. I remember feeling as if any help/contact given between riders was viewed as breaking the rules so it seemed everyone kind of kept their distance. After a few days I was so far behind that I never saw anyone again after Buena Vista though.

"He's just an ordinary middle-aged guy with a desk-jockey day job and two little kids waiting for him at the end of the day. But he has an amazing amount of tenacity and determination for this CTR. He is the original Honey Badger!" Here Here for the average Joe out there! It gets harder every day you wake up after a freezing night and get on your bike for more suffering! I'm guessing he may not be so ordinary any more. The trail does strange things to a man....................

Teddycricket thanks for making me laugh harder than I have in weeks! That IS the CTR in a nutshell! It took me over 11 days without even doing the official course!( I bailed and rode Cinnamon Pass instead of 22 and 23 (I got an "*" but still got the courtesy finish from Stefan(thanks))) in 09' and was without a doubt the hardest thing I have ever done in my lfe, but I was NOT going to be haunted by the fact that I quit after all that suffering. You GOTTA be the Honey Badger! Stupid and Relentless . Triple parenthese are rare and precious indeed. If I rode a SS in this race it would be a 20 x 36 cause that all i used last time (20 front that is)

ZACH! Holy CRAP man! That is some sick stuff. You have got wads of steel and are absolutely at the top of the list. If anyone comes up with more obstacles than that I will be truly surprised! Your trip makes mine feel like COASTING ON BLACKTOP! We'll let the panel of judges have the final say after all the riders are in and tales are told. GREAT JOB!

Steve Lacey called in from Durango finishing at 7:05:47, admittedly with a route deviation but still an accomplishment. Congrats Steve and Toby! I would love to hook up and buy you guys a beer and hear about your adventures! I know it's probably a little premature to suggest next year but it would be cool to get a FC CTR group together and start preparing for 2011! Great JOB! tom jensen

Great race Esther!
:headbang:It's been really inspiring to watch your robitic-like pace and to hear you so fresh and seemingly un-crushed! Eat, sleep and be merry! Your an animal!

Way to go Ethan! I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that doing this trail in that kind of time ranks right up there with the hardest physical feats in the world. Especially with the rain and weather. You are superhuman! You too Jesse! Amazing riding!

ANNOUNCING THE 2010 CTR RAMSTRONG AWARD
I want to put up a award for the racer er...........lunatic who stays out the longest and lives to tell about it! I'm pretty poor so no cash involved, but I will give the opportunity to place an UNLIMITED wholesale order with my bike wholesaler to the last rider into Junction Creek. I will also donate $50.00 to the charity that I rode for last year RAMSTRONG in the name of the rider. I hope this will give a tiny incentive to the racer willing to hold off on pulling the plug and suffer the longest in their quest to finish. Chances are that your bike and gear will be battered and torn up so this could take the sting out of replacing you tires, drivetrain, brakepads, wheels and who knows what else got trashed. If anyone has questions about the logistics or who should actually win the award, we will have a thread discussion to vote in the recipient. Since I did not do 22 and 23 last year (I rode Cinnamon Pass), so sticking to the official course is not as important as just making it. Please talk amongst yourselves..............................

GOD! This race is crazy! If you ride even 1% harder than MELLOW (whatever your personal 'Mellow" is) it destroys you and your gear. The wet conditions are making it a lot worse than last year so Im thinkin I'm glad I sat this one out. Great job to everyone out there....................but........................STAY OUT AND FINISH! It is SO worth it to pull into Junction Creek knowing that you made it! Official finisher or not the CTR was the most miserable, amazing, life changing 11 days and 9 hours of my life and if I hadnt of gotten to Durango I wouldnt have ever slept again for second guessing myself. Whatever it takes, find a pace that works for you and KEEP ON TRUCKIN DUDES AND DUDETTES! You're HEROES!
