Ha! Great pics.

"As of 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Jason Kiefer of Leadville and Ned Bachanko of Icculus were competing for the lead, having completed about 78 miles of the course."

While enjoying my ride along the Blackhawk Pass section of the Colorado Trail a week or so ago into Durango, off in the distance over my right shoulder is this huge massive rock peak that is very different than anything else out there. Anyone care to elaborate on what mountain top or peak it is?

You can see it below on the top right of the picture.

I ordered the Geronmino Pain Cream and it's fantastic  headbang

Over the last 4 weeks, all of my little saddle sore bumps/heads, whatever you want to call them, are gone.

The cream is thin, smells good, feels good and lasts.

Looks like Russ McBride is off course in Santa Fe - I'm assuming to replace his broken pedal.  From the distance he's covered I'm guessing he got a ride - is he also allowed to get a ride back to where he left the course?

4a. In the event of a serious mechanical that renders one's bike unrideable, a rider may be assisted[3] by motor vehicle in moving backwards or directly off the route, but never forward on route. A rider may also receive assistance returning back to the location they left the GDMBR, however, the moment they rejoin the route, any forward assistance is prohibited, even if a rider has already ridden that stretch prior to leaving the route.

Looks like a doosy.

I was out that way the Fall 2009 with some friends, camped at Davidson River Campground and rode all around there for four days. One day we drove to Kitsuma TH for the ORAMM route, reason I mention this as I see in your directions you list Curtis Creek Rd.

Yup, I remember that road very well... thumbsup

Hey Toby,

My daytime color scheme was set to Diamond, probably the default, so I change it do "amethyst", didnt seem to make much of a difference in the Texas sun today.

Will try some other schemes out.

Can you plug it in to a Mac?

New eTrex units looks great. Like Toby said, my VistaHCx is running good too, although the screen in sunlight is barely readable sometimes, maybe these new version might improve on that. Replaceable batteries, are a must.

I was thinking the same questions about GPS units. I have a Garmin Vista HCx with a MicroSD slot, so technically I could have the GPX file loaded on the device and the MicroSD. If I had to perform a hard reset, which as I have been reading today, wipes all data from device, I could insert the MicroSD to reload the map file only if the hard reset works.

Anyway, back to the race...

15  Forums / Ultra Racing / Re: Bikepacking App ready for AZT on: April 09, 2011, 07:19:06 PM
Just some quick feedback.

I updated to 0.61 and the roster updated almost immediately.

I find the app very quick and snappy if that means anything, ha!

Just an idea, what if you moved the "events" button to underneath "Map" that way people can quickly and easily access an event. Then since Routes is customizable through "Settings" by "Add a route" you could move it to where "Events" was located. Really an ease of use thing if it is possible.

I work for a large wireless carrier and do a fair bit of software testing both on PC and phone. Some other ideas I will just throw out there since you asked, some of which you might have already thought of.
1. "Riders" add a link that auto updates to MTBcast for call in replay. May need someone to link your app rider list to MTBcast. Someone out there might volunteer!
2. "Riders" lots have blogs and maybe add a link to that to read their setup, training etc.
3. "Riders" I am not sure how it will act once things are under way, but it would be neat if it could somehow list the placing of each rider overall from within the riders list based off GPS/SPOT location on route only. The way we see blue dots now it a long line of riders with their initials and for the bigger endurance events with many riders it takes a while to zoom in/out finding whom is who. Simply more user friendly.

This looks to be a great app for our corner of the dirt.

I'll throw out more ideas as they come to me.

I've got it loaded up now on my Motorola Droid and will give you some feed back after the AZT.

Perfect for being away from the computer and follow the action from my phone.

Thanks and good luck out there next week.

Looks like a great route for sure! So no more "west side" Santa Rita's with the bullet hole cars for this year...but, there is new adventure out there!

I too can't make it out to the start, good luck to everyone  headbang

What re-supply is available in Bailey or 285/Shawnee area? I see that there is a Conoco gas station in Bailey. Mainly looking for convience store type.

I had a plastic brake pad up front I fashioned trailside past Oracle.

I am interested in this story of you care to share about your "plastic brake pad" Do you mean the plastic piece that is shipped with new brake calipers?

I paid the price carrying that much and I planned and did a lot of reading up and studying as much as I could. It did work well for me, but it worked me over good. Just hard to pin it all down until you get out there, next time I'll know better, next time, I'll have had some more experience out on the trail.

There's a Circle K (off-route) a few miles away from the bottom of Reddington, just past the golf course. Me and Mark C rolled in there and it was getting hot out. I was inside getting water and Mark made a small camp almost inside the Ice Cooler, I was laughing and wish I got a picture of it.

I did use my filter in the creek at Molino that Tim is talking about. Park your bike and walk up a ways. I was so shattered from the HAB over the saddleback and the long day, that I was fumbling around with my filter.

Tim can correct me on this, but I believe before the Molino HAB, there is a water tank or something before you go over and one or two small ponds coming from Bellota Trail after you cross the gravel road.

Man, the AZT trail is awesome!
