thanks for the reply! So here was my plan, I think you'd be interested: I was going to get a ride from northpark (I live at Florida and Lincoln) to Aguanga (right around the 79 and 371 intersections), 10-15 miles East of Temecula. My plan was to bike up the back side of Palomar mountain using the fire roads, then descend on the east side towards Anza, then resume following the SC route from Anza the rest of the way back to SD...Sound like a good plan? The only possible issue is that the ride up North is tentative, 90% sure we will be able to get a ride, but possible cancelations last minute may happen, so I'll only know for sure on Monday if we have a ride...
worst case scenario I guess we could do the route reverse and start in North Park and then hitch a ride or take public transportation back to SD, I've never taken public transportation that far so I'm not sure how convenient that would be or if it's even an option. We could also set up a car shuttle if the person who was going to give me a ride bails, maybe drop off a car in Temecula or at the ranger station/fire department at the top of Palomar...
ha we live like 3 blocks from eachother, I'm right by arnold and university, and really I'm down for anything you want to plan, just looking to get 2-3 nights in out on the trail to test the new setup.

Hey so my plan to ride back from idyllwild got derailled by rain last weekend and im looking for a good ride, Ive ridden the stagecoach in race mode and woudl love to tour it. I would be down for leaving sometime that week ( got a bit of work to take care of mon-tuesday) but after that i think im free. i live in northpark so it would be nice to just ride out my front door for a few days.

Man Watching the dots is addicting, Sort of wish I was out there again this year but I will console myself by riding the last half home from Idyllwild next weekend after Idyllwild spring challenge.

Scrolling around the map will kill batteries much quicker than anything. I cant say that ive noticed a big drop in battery life when keeping it on the map screen vs the dashboard. as for lithiums for racing and multi day touring they are the only way to go sure they cost 3x as much but they weigh half as much and last 3x as long as regular batteries.

ahh yeah, we felt really bad about that part and even waited at the route for half an hour to try and make up for the time we probably gained. man what a difference a couple hours of sleep makes huh? we were thinking about you through that huge climbing section around mesa grande wondering how you were pulling that off on a SS.

Just wondering if anyone else passed through Los Penasquitos at night, and if so, whether they had the same surreal experience with green lasers that I did. One of the multistory buildings on the mesa south of Penasquitos Cyn. had a green laser mounted on top (or near the top). It would shine over into the canyon and jump around erratically, only staying on one spot for a fraction of a second and then jumping to another spot. It would do this maybe 20 or 30 times over several seconds, then turn completely off for a while and then repeat. At first it was aways away from me. But as I made my way upcanyon, it definitely followed me and mostly shined on spots near (but rarely directly on) me. Very bizarre and I was glad when I finally got out of sight of the building. I don't think I imagined it, though I had not yet slept at this point.

hehehe we were probably 2-3 hours ahead of you here and definitely did not see anything like that.
