HI Folks,
does anyone know, why the TD-route does not pass the Outdoorsman in Butte anymore? It was a great place to restore with bike parts, having a pizza and meeting great people.

Forums / Winter bikepacking / Grease the Cables?
|
on: November 12, 2013, 12:13:38 PM
|
Hi I am just about to build up my new fat bike for a trip in Norway (up to minus 20° C)… so I do not know, if I had to grease the Cable of gearing and braking or not? And which grease is the best?
When preparing the frame: Greasing the Headset (alu) in alu-frame? and what about the BB-Set?
Thanks for your hints/tipps/suggestions!
Cheers

HI TD-V-Riders,
does someone know the opening hours and the way to get into the ToasterHouse ... is this "Donation-Hostel" a resupply one can count on?

Forums / Ultra Racing / TD 13 : Snow Detours?
|
on: April 29, 2013, 06:28:54 AM
|
Hi Folks,
due to the fact that my IIT starts 7th of June I was wondering, when to start checking the amount of snow on the passes in Canada and Montana...
Some question to the locals:
What about the snow levels so far in this season? More than usual, less?
Beginning from now: Does usually snow level on passes still growing from now till June or is it continuously getting less? (right grammar?!)
Thanks for your answers/estimates in advance

Hi,
I was thinking about that system as well (Garmin e30) and all back ups (and back up GPS-system) on the Ipad Mini ... lots of weight. I will go fro ip 4 as back up (Data, Map, Kamera, GPS) driven/load by hub dynamo and "Luxos" front light!

I do use a sponsored (got it job wise for testing) Luxos on my Winter-Road-Racer and will switch it to my TD-Bike in April ... lots of light ... even if you climbing a hill slow or even walking, and USB gives a lot of energy to GPS, ipod, Camera a.s.o. while day-light-riding!

Hey man, you do some hardcore calc. ... if you compare the systems: Think about time for finding/buying/storing batteries. And your brainwork when thinking about if your bat-storage is large enough for the next no-support-section ... and what about rainy days in Montana no solar-loading at all ...
All in all for me the SON-Hub-Dyno is the best choice ... and having real good light when night riding is a big pro ... having mounted the new Busch & Müller Luxos ... providing 70 lux with an extra large light-field (right term?) and entering towns late at nite with a serious rear light could be a real lifesaver!
But in the end: one could find all systems at winner/recordrider/midpackracer/DNF ... it is like all TD-aspect: find your way, fell your discussion!
Cheers

Your bike and gear will end up at least 5 to 10 pound heavier if you always choose the "100 % save-Version" ... I am fighting hard right now getting back to a light kit ... still 43 lbs (Bike & Gear) looking for a 3X ...

Cheers Stappy — I think I'll go with the Racing Ralphs. I can get a really good deal on them at the moment and I've had good experience with Schwalbe tires in the past.
HI I go with 2,25" RR too ... fine tires ... did grenzsteintrophy a couple of times with the tire without any flat! M-M

HI Oskar,
6 days ca. 580km 15000 climbing, GR221-Hiking Route ... lots of Hike-Climbs, and Gates to be climbed ... but great fun, not really the ride turn for a structured climbing trainings camp, but great fun!
Cheers M-M

I do have the MLD event/cuben Bivy ... as far as I used it (about 15 times) it is comfortable, breathable and waterproove ... I got XL-Version with space to put my pad in and I use a sheet under it just to make sure not to destroy the cuben.
But it is not an ultra light weight part: 4XX gr.

Sure, I will geared up properly (Yeti Passion 3 sleeping bag, Neo Air, MLD Soul Bivy ... made me a superb "home" over 20 times this year). I am looking forward to spent nights out there on the Great Divide!
