My winter 'kits' vary depending on what's happening but here's my standard summer kit...

I think I would blow out both knees, my back, and generally fall apart if I tried training all day long.  1-2 hrs a day is plenty for me and my one a year ultra can satiate an obsession but still keep the family balance in check, even if I come in last place.

An understanding wife. Agree with the early morning, higher intensity and I try not to dink around.  It's a hard balance, but manageable and actually helps keep me focused and organized.

A friend of mine was the photographer on the Belgica Antarctic expedition and has some great shots to drool over.  It's coastal Antarctica not south pole but gives an idea of the fun that could be had!
