I don't think Mike is thinking about photo ops.

I left Silverton last year at the exact same time Cat left this year.  I slept for an hour and a half out there and was pretty worked over...curious to see if she can make it in.  I bet she does.  Smiley
Lovely comment. Gives you something to do next year :-)

4 days is just silly.

Alan, from the UK, is doing an amazing ride as well.

Go Chris! Go Cat!

Damn, I want to be out there! This time last year I was being sick on the trail somewhere before Copper Mountain. Good times ;-)

Sorry Ian- been away from phone reception.

Aidan is done "Finished the Cairngorms Loop in 22.5 hours. I think I probably won but not sure. Time for sleep!". Good going!

I saw the riders off this morning. 20 of them. Nice and sunny at the moment but the forecast says snow and temperatures hovering around freezing. It's going to be a tough one.

Very excited to get going now! Pretty much set but on question spring to mind: what's the availability of CR123 batteries like in in gas stations/stocking up points?

Hi Steve,
I saw a few people with dyno hubs but most people just had head torches. External battery packs under your clothing is a good idea, it makes the batteries last longer and keeps them working at lower temperatures. This http://www.petzl.com/en/outdoor/myo-series/myo-xp-belt is pretty easy to get hold of in the UK. Lithium batterys work better at low temperatures (and last longer and weigh less...).

Congratulations all! It looks to have been a tough year out there so I'm even more impressed by the speeds!

This has been playing on my mind... I won't make it this year, but out of interest what temperatures would you expect along the route?

The article was more arduous than the race! It took a long time to digest, a long time to write then a couple more months to get printed. I tinkered a lot but never really found a 'direction' I liked. Oh well, hope you liked it. It fitted in to a good issue though- i loved Jenn's GDR article.

Btw I'll be putting up my full kit list and bike build in the next few days if you are interested.

Nome? Perhaps. I'm planning on heading back next year but probably just for the short race.

Yeah, that's right. Jim from Alpkit is suposed to be posting some pictures to show how they are getting on. Roger Leavesley has the Pug for the ITI. Good training for him as well!

Yeah, it's typical- I've leant out my Pug and the SnowCats I had sitting spare!

Missed this and managed to post on the other thread...

I rode a Pugsley with 30:25 and a 22 and a 20 sprocket. I used the 25 for all of the race apart from the 'burn where it was really fast going. I used the 20 there and would have been fine on a bigger gear. That was about right. Endless do really big cogs.

Aidan ran a bit lower than me. I can't remember what exactly but he used a granny ring and smaller sprockets.

Eric, I here you ran in to Cass?

Pat ran 32:20 with normal tyres. I rode a Pugsley with 30:25 and a 22 and a 20 sprocket. I used the 25 for all of the race apart from the burn where it was really fast going. That was about right. Endless do really big cogs.

Pat has the record for sure. I don't know who is next. Probably Epic Eric?
