I'm running a 36 on 2 bikes, yep -- Lenz Leviathan and Lenz Behemoth.

Have used X5, X7 (med cage) and X9 (short cage) ders successfully.  Haven't had to change B-tension screws or anything.  In fact, all those ders can get the top pulley too far from the 36 cog.  That was part of my most recent problem -- I had it too far from the cog resulting in some skipping under high load.

I run a 34t cassette behind it, but had to switch to a 32t on the Behemoth for some reason.  The chain was just barely making contact with the teeth on the 34, resulting in some noise and occasional issues with slipping.  Strangely I've used a different (SRAM) 34t on the Leviathan without that issue.  I'm guessing the 34t I had to replace was worn enough to make it an issue.  It may start happening on the Lev too.

>>Hi Scott, I've just installed a 12-34 xtr with an xtr long cage.  The top pulley of course rubs on the big cog.  It actually rubbed on the big cog when I was running a 12-28, but only in the granny gear.  Now its in both granny and middle.  The 'b' screw seems to have no impact whatsoever.  I have a brand new xtr short cage, but I hesitate to install as I believe it would only get worse.  You're post above has given me renewed hope.  How'd you get the short cage to work?  Any help or words of wisdom would be much apprciated.  BTW, I'm on a 1994 Litespeed Ocoee, if that makes a difference.  Thanks.<<
