Jason and Barnabas are moving very well, looks like Chad, Wayne and Lisa are not far behind.  Gotta love Trackleaders, sitting here at home drinking a cold one watching the race.  Lights are on folks.

If you're here early enough on the 22nd, a bunch of us are doing a shuttle ride from Picketpost (AZT300 finish) to Kelvin.
Wow, that sounds awesome.  40 miles or so?   Not sure I can alter my plans to arrive any earlier though, looking!

Headed to Arizona with my wife for a bit of vacation between the 22nd and the 28th.  Want to get a good look at the AZT300 route, ride as much as possible.  Looks like we will be staying around the Tucson area.  Any locals planning on riding these sections during that time frame, I would love to see the trail and get some of that local knowledge?  Thanks Shey    everett11@bellsouth.net

Planning on TNGA 2013...I have a SC TallBoy that can lock out and a steel, rigid, SS 29er. Thoughts on which is better suited? Not interested in buying another bike for now....

Hey jktwice,  go with the Tallboy.   The descent into Helen on the first day can be done on a rigid but it really plays hell on the body, greatly hindering chances of a good finish.   My first two attempts were on a rigid setup with narrow tires, yep attempts.

Have a harness with pocket that I don't use anymore, its the older design.    Has some damage from rubbing on front wheel but its very usable.  Think its branded Epic, before they changed names.  Want some pictures?

17  Forums / Classifieds / DiNotte 200L headlight system on: February 21, 2013, 04:37:57 AM
DiNotte 200L Plus LC Pro Series engine, helmet mount, battery bag, o-rings for mounting to bar, 5 battery holders, two straps, four sets of Tenergy AA 2600mAh NiMH Rechargeable Batteries with clear cases.   Will send pictures if needed.

Info here: http://www.dinottelighting.com

Great light, used for two TNGA attempts, Huracan 300 and numerous overnight training rides. Gets a 2.5-3hr burn on the Tenergy batteries on high 200 lumen. Button on back glows red during use, acts as a rear flasher, nice feature.  Only issue would be its a little finicky changing from flash mode, overall its been a very reliable light.     $75 shipped (US only)

Come on back when the weather is better, its an awesome route.  For what its worth, the route took me 3 attempts before completing it in 2012.  No failure, you were both just testing/checking/planning and riding.

Last year I ran WTB wolverine rear and WTB weirwolf front and didn't get one flat the entire 300 miles.  I ran them tubeless with stans.  Maybe it was luck that I didn't get a flat but I was pretty good at avoiding cactus and getting off the bike in a couple stickery sections.  I never even used my bike pump once.  After the AZ 300 I did the Prescott monstercross and the rear tire started falling apart.  That goes to say the AZT will definitely tear up tires especially the poorly made ones.

A lot of others go with the Panaracer Rampages, probably one of the most common choices for the AZTR.

Thanks for the info Foster.  Are you talking about the really wide Weirwolf front 29X2.5?

Looks like Pana Rampage 2.35, Maxxis Ikon EXO sidewall 2.20, Schwalbe Racing Ralph 29X2.25 Snakeskin sidewall, Geax Saguaro 29X2.20 TNT casing and WTB are top choices.  Anyone tried norrower tires for this route?
