And a huge thanks to whoever handed me that finish line beer. You told me your name, but I was brain-dead. It's OK to be drinking at 4:45 AM, right?
Ha! It was great meeting all of you guys! Chrissy Nacos (Matt's wife)

Storm cell is pinning some of the guys on the final segments before Durango. Lightening and rain right now. Hopefully the guys on the ridges are staying safe. Looks like 14 folks on the Molas to Durango section.

Sorry to hear Teresa scratched. I dealt with a similar situation in 2013 and it was definitely unhealthy even though I finished. I think it was part of the cause of the major edema I experienced. Nice job recognizing the issue Teresa and making the tough call. You had a great pace going!

At the beginning of section 3, Jeremy Whitman reported that a brake caliper bolt rattled out of the frame. "Cracked frame, duct taped it but might be out..." He's still moving though!

A while back I made a post about how I use animal feed bag material for emergency tire boots. They are the same material as you would find with a blue tarp. I offered to send some to anyone who was interested. One girl, Christina Nacos out of Boulder said she'd like some, so I sent her some. Then lo and behold, they have her bike in the article.
And I brought a bunch of extra material to hand out. I'll be staying at the Y starting this afternoon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Another technology challenged question- how come sometimes I see high/low points marked on a track and sometimes the same track doesn't show them on my eTrex20? It seems like it isn't a part of the track itself. Is there an option somewhere on my eTrex?
I saw something on a Garmin forum that said waypoints are automatically generated for major high and low points, however the same track sometimes shows them and sometimes does not??

I have the 2014 ACA maps so I'm missing the Wamsutter reroute. Any chance someone could take a few pictures of the Atlantic City to Slater section and email to me please?
Sorry if this was posted before, but does anyone have the distance or GPS coordinates for the water supply between Atlantic City and Wamsutter? Thanks!

Google-( pale spruce), some where on that site, there is a list of all the resupplies, campgrounds, bikeshops distances, miles, elevation, on pdf form. I printed it out and used it last year.
Awesome, thank you! And for the bike shop thread!

Does anyone have a listing of resupply stores along the route? As I was starting to put together a cue sheet for resupply spots and bike shops, utilizing the maps, interwebs, notes, etc. I thought I'd ask the lazy question and see if anyone wanted to share their list or had one from previous years.

I'm bummed there aren't more women on the course this year but nice efforts by Jill and Beth. Getting to the start line is a challenge in itself!
Stay strong Katie, I'm cheering for you!

The yurt isn't visible in the southbound direction unless you look back in the northbound direction.
Yep, that's right. After Jarosa you go down towards a stream and if you turn around you can see that beautiful yurt that saved me from worse hypothermia. I lost a solid day racing because I needed to warm up due to this freak multi-day storm. Huge lesson I learned is carry the following no matter what! : 1) waterproof mittens (or gloves), and I mean like ski gloves. I had thermal layer and handwarmers and still was not warm enough. 2) gore-tex jacket; I had imitation fabric waterproof jacket that after 2 days of constant rain/sleet was saturated. I came back and immediately purchased Gore bike gear jacket and pants, bomb proof! I carried these items even during my AZT 750 attempt and used both up North during the nights. -Chrissy

On my tour I ran into the death mud around Blue Ridge CG. Locked up my wheels and I ditched to the road. Outhouse bivy to stay warm last night and more rain. Raining again in Mormon Lake. I'm hoping Aaron got through the mud okay.
Got to talk with Brad outside of Tortilla Flats and Aaron in Tonto Basin. Awesome guys and both in great spirits!

Out of the race but with a desire to see more of Arizona and vacation time to use, I'm going to head out tomorrow from Apache Junction at touring speed. I'm going to take some touring liberties (ie no Highline) but am excited to see the Northern sections at a leisurely pace. My dad is meeting me at the GC so no portage but we have a permit to backpack the Paria (highly recommend if you've never done it!).
Not the 750 finish I was hoping for but a good adventure nonetheless. At least the section I missed of the 300, Lemmon to PP, I've bike packed before so I've gotten to ride that rippin fast Boulders section and experience Ripsey and Gila canyons. Although I haven't done Oracle Ridge but something tells me that is okay....
Maybe I'll see Caroline or Jill or other racers out there, I have the utmost respect for you all! Chrissy

Crawled through the Canelos the first day and experienced the heat shivers in Patagonia. After resting overnight in Sonoita, Matt Quinn and I made good time in to Tucson and pushed up Redington to bivy. Day 3 heat coupled with this horrible sinus infection had me crawling to Molina. Mind and body were cooked and had to bail down Catalina to Tucson. I was really looking forward to seeing the North AZT and the big ditch again! I guess I didn't want it badly enough.
Matt continued on in good spirits! Best of luck to all the racers!

IN for the full enchilada and joined ATA.
Is it better to ship poles, shoes, etc for the big ditch hike to Grand Canyon USPS or Tusayan? Any preferences?
