Great shots Greg.
They make me want to quit my job and head for the mountains.
Cool, Lee!

I'd wondered where you'd gone. It certainly was interesting, eh? I don't think I'll need another go of it.

I posted more of my pics on my Blog, here: http://dirtanddogs.blogspot.com/2010/07/dixie-311-bikepacking-tour.html, if you want to check them out.

Under 40hrs..insane!
That's a bunch of rolling pictures. No time to stop and enjoy at that pace.

Dave, what's your thoughts on the "lite" version for a SS?

"Meine Hoffnung auf Trinkwasser erfüllt sich allerdings nicht, und das wird langsam zum Problem."

I understood 1 of those words, and yes that water was a PROBLEM.
Roll on!

Nice, thanks.

I'll have a spot. Should be an interesting time for sure.

I'm starting the Coco 250 in 6 days, so you'll get some first hand mud feedback a few days later.
My only worry is the dirt roads being too muddy. The trails have rocks to ride over.

I was thinking of a mid April run at the 250 again. How much snow is still in Williams/Flag?

Sub 27 hr ride time...f'n nuts and very encouraging that Scott and Chad have new time to aim for.
Go get "em boys.

I belive I had the only flat during the Loop race (that I know of). Got it just crossing under the freeway headed to Oak Creek. But then again, I pussed out on top of Mingus, so who knows how many more were in my future.

Hey All,
Back at home in Calif. tonight.
I got to hand it to you Ariz. boys...a bunch of tough bastards.

Mother nature threw her best at me yesterday, I made it though most of
what she handed out. Sand, rocks, sand in the rocks, flat tires, tired feet.
Then I met my mental match 3 miles from the top of Mingus Mtn. I had no good reason to see
the top of that thing after the previous 45 miles. Both days were filled with trails I wouldn't ever
see on my own.
At 6:30pm, sun going down, I was too tired to fight had Scott & Chad been there anyway, so I put
my tail between my legs and called in the back up plan, Thanks again Rob.

Highlights: swimming in Oak creek, Sedona trails, & that view from the top of stage 1.

Great meeting and riding with everyone. You guys are seriously talented riders (and Hikers, bikes optional on this ride).

No regrets on my end.
-Tony

I am in the for the stage-race version now too...I heard that there may be a six pack waiting for everyone at the first stage, so make sure to ride fast and take plenty of pictures!
St. Paulie girl NA for me please.

It's never too late for a change.
The first guy to the turn off up to Williams will just put a post-it on the ground with an arrow pointing which way he went...and then we'll all follow.

Will the podium be set up at "the place" also. Will the podium be covered? Just looking out for the trophy girls, I'm just saying.......It could happen.

Thanks for the offer, see you next weekend.

I've got a 20" red Karate Monkey, brand new and I'll sell it for $400+shipping if it's your size and you're interested. Frame and fork and seatpost clamp. It's boxed and can go in the mail ASAP.

This is what I get for reading all the post about pre-race breakage from you guys:

Major set back yesterday during my lunch time ride. Broke my 4th Gary Fisher frame in 18months!!!
Yes 4th! I now have 2 bike with multible problems that nothing swaps back and forth to.
The best part is: it will not be covered under warrenty because the crack was caused by chain suck against the frame which caused it to weaken and crack, bastards! angry4

So I have cash in hand and heading to the bike shop this afternoon. Me thinks a steel frame is in my future thumbsup I'm thinking Karate Monkey with American Classics, we'll see what happens.

Hey all, I'm new to this type of riding but not new on a bike. Sounds like a great time!

I like the "sleep here" option of the stage race. What about water refills close to the end/beginning of the stages.

So what's the head count look like so far?
