Cathy, I just typed this whole big thing and lost it.
Crazy Larry did find his bike.
I also was saying that I met your sister, Gail, and Tom. They did a bike tour in Vermont and they parked at my house. Great people and it was awesome to hear about their experiences. I'm doing TD next year. Can't wait.
Wil
I remember you from this board last summer! So cool that you met Gail and Tom. Thanks for the update on Crazy Larry's bike (and to brother JP who sent me a separate message).

Gee whiz...seems like the month of June completely got away from me and I missed a whole lot of TD action. Checking in here for the first time this year. Last year I was following my brother JP Evans from TX and my sister's significant other Tom Sap from Belgium. I don't ride myself but I got vicariously hooked on the whole experience, particularly the neck-and-neck performances by Jefe and Kurt, call-ins from Dejay and Justin theArtist, and Tori's blog posts. I'm thrilled to see that Justin rode again - and so well - without terminal damage to himself or his bike this time. Delighted to see a great finish by Georg whose insightful posts I remember from this board last year. Blown away by the performance of Kurt and Caroline on the tandem. Excited to see Tori back for an encore on her own timetable. Can't think of any others right now although I saw many other familiar names. Kudos to everyone who has finished as well as to those who could not, and Godspeed to everyone still en route!
Couldn't read enough posts to find out whether Crazy Larry got his bike back or if there was/is a collection going on...I'd like to help out if needed.

Wow, beautiful photos! Okay, so my travels have largely neglected the mountainous parts of the continent, but was it really wrong of me to imagine that this place called the "Flathead" would be relatively flat??

Saw Justin the other evening in Silver after Joel and I had finished and he seemed in remarkably good spirits ....
Kevin, thanks for letting us know! Glad you had a chance to visit with him and give us a first-hand assessment. I only "know" Justin through his blog, this forum, and the MTBcast, but like many of us who spent the better part of the last 5 weeks following various blue dots, I've become an admirer (and a contributor - like Pollyhound). Here again is the link to donate in case anyone was looking for it... http://gdmbr.justinsimoni.com/the-last-big-push.html

Really sad to hear about Justin. What a bold attempt. He should feel really good about what he did, even if it was cut short.
Now, does anyone know what happened to Jackie Bonn? Still haven't seen anything further since she showed up on the Scratched list.

So since Justin is still out there (in Sapillo now, looks like), I decided to take the extra time to order more Cordilleras. Go Linnea!

Wonder what Justin's up to...it's unusual for his SPOT to have stayed in the same place for 10 hours...out of batteries or just not on?

Win a date with Justin?

Oh no - so sorry to hear about Jackie and Cricket! I had started watching Jackie after Tori finished. Last time I checked yesterday, she was at mile 2480 and moving at 10mph, but it looks like she only went 3 more miles after that. Great ride, Jackie!

I passed Tori yesterday and one of the reasons she is not moving fast is that her front mech is stuck in the little ring. she was going to try to fix it today. And ofcourse, we are all getting tired and the terrain in NM is pretty brutal, not to mention the super rough washboards that are not disliked by everyone. Off to AW in the morning... last day!
Tom.
I don't think I have heard this many words from Tom Sap, ever! The TD does affect riders in strange ways!
